Is it just me, or is Cloudflare being a screwup *AGAIN*? I mean, really, it's getting to the point of being a little absurd. I know it's freaking terrible, but there's gotta be limits to this. It keeps proving me wrong.

It's doing the "ZOMG ARE YOU TEH ROBOT?!? HERES SOME IMPOSSIBLE TO READ GIBBERISH, BETTER TYPE IT" crap *every* time I post.... and then it causes the site to LOSE whatever I'd written (a new low, even for Cloudflare). I now have to copy/paste whatever I write into Notepad, THEN hit preview/submit, wait for Cloudcrap's inevitable screwup, and then put it back. Sometimes twice.

And no, I"ve not changed *anything* on my end. Same browser, always. No side software save the same virus scanner I've always used. This machine is really only used for gaming, and nothing else.

So is anyone else seeing it do this? I'm so freaking tired of it. Gotta be, what, the 5th time I've seen it go out of control on this site alone? Though it seems to have a tendancy to do this on a great many sites, from what I hear of it and from seeing it at times myself, elsewhere.

Well, I'm thinking you're talking about 2 different things----Cloudflare, and CAPTCHA----but, YES, I have experienced BOTH today, and I agree that BOTH are getting QUITE OLD (especially, as YOU say, the gibberish, that I can't make-out----I think I went through, like, SEVEN CAPTCHAs, just for ONE post).

I totally understand that some measure is needed to cut-down on spammers----but, given a choice of ticking-off a whole lotta people who are already HERE vs. ticking-off a person on their very first post, I think I'd rather tick-off the newcomer; cuz, that's just ONE person.

EDIT: I forgot to close my parentheses.

I wonder why I have not yet seen a Cloudflare notice or a Captcha page today ... ?

Yeah wiped out like 2-3 responses yesterday and today. I think it only happens when you type a long response and take too long.

If you reply with short things it probably will not happen. Or type it somewhere like in word or wordpad first.

Maybe because there was, like, 12 hours, there, that you didn't post?

I made a post in the 'MODERATOR ATTENTION' thread (page 17) on 25 September, which may or may not be of assistance to some of you who are having problems with this issue.

It seems EXTREMELY random as to who it tends to happen to, and who it doesnt. I've both seen and heard of it a thousand times on so many different sites, and there's about a gazillion theories (many of which conflict, despite being "all facts") as to why it chooses those that it does. My conclusion is that it's a bloody disaster of a service. Frankly, I dont trust it. At all. Right now, there's no internet-based thing I encounter that I'm more suspicious and wary of.

It also seems extremely random as to WHEN it'll do this. For those that get the fun of encountering it, sometimes it'll go for quite awhile without doing much, maybe popping up once in a month. And then you'll get a couple of months where it does it every 5 minutes, glitching out left and right.

This has no effect for me. I tend to just hit enter anyway, to begin with.

Though, honestly? If something like THAT can affect it, changing it's reactions.... that's.... just sad, at this point.

I mean, just.... what.

Ya know what, at this point... I dont even want an explanation of that one from anywhere. It'll just anger me.

Definitely not just you. A PM I sent a short while ago needed more than 10 attempts to go through. And of course I had to re.-paste it between every attempt. Sigh. A post made yesterday needed 2, 3 if you count edit.

The numbers are readable, but the text is usually not possible for me to read.

Who said all of us who can't read illegible gibberish aren't actually bots in denial?

Ditto. I discovered with a longish PM which wouldn't go through on 'send', that when I took out the paragraph separation and line spacing, and sent it as one single long piece of text, it did go through.... (I hated sending it that way as I really dislike unbroken text as a style). I have also resorted to sending replies in two parts in two separate PMs.. which I also dislike doing though it is better than losing the whole text and train of thought in a fit of frustrated exasperation which can really spoil the mood that receiving an interesting PM can bring forth.

I really really hope the message system can be upgraded.. can I have that for Christmas please??!

Okay, I swear, every time I think Cloudflare has hit rock bottom, somebody throws it a nuclear jackhammer.

Did you know that pushing CANCEL (when writing or editing a message) can cause it to fire up and do it's thing? Just think about that for a moment. The CANCEL button. And then what happens if you ignore it and just hit "back" or something after it has done this? It..... doesnt notice. It wont do ANYTHING, as if it had never brought up the screen that time at all. It didnt fire up again in the next 5 posts I made (with this being number 6 before I log off today).

....and people freaking TRUST this thing? I just.... it.... what.... wow.
