Trying to reply to another member on WP, in our private message mailbox area. I have tried around 5 times today, to send my reply. Still getting this error:

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Incorrect string value: '\xF0\x9F\x98\x89\x0A\x0A...' for column 'message_text' at row 1 [1366]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.
Please notify the board administrator or webmaster: forums@wrongplanet.net

And, by the way, I tried to send this same message to the email address at the end of that error message, it was kicked back, rejected. That is why I am here.

PLEASE HELP. thanks.

Where is admin on this forum? Are there moderators?
I find the forum support to be lacking. Frustrating. To make it worse, it's a forum for those with 'issues'....Asperger's, etc. And, so the frustration level for me, on this forum, has been fairly high.
Ready to give up on the forum altogether.

I was astounded to learn quite recently that WP apparently only has a single administrator, who is also its founder. What is needed surely is a 'board' of admins who are available on a regular basis to advise on and deal with members' problems in relation to the site.

I think the mods here do a very good job, but their functions seem to be limited to the basics of moderation.

This can sometimes be down to an encoding and schema issues with the database.

Are you using characters outside of the basic latin alphabet? Is the PM just your text, or it there other stuff in there including quoted message and anything pasted in?

are you posting special emoji characters?
http://apps.timwhitlock.info/emoji/tables/unicode

I can confirm it causes the error.

Well, currently Alex is the only admin but in the past, he has appointed a second admin occasionally. For example, MrMark, Lau and TallyMan were also past admins.

Thank you so much for your help! This forum is becoming quite frustrating for me. I am ready to stop posting on it, due to the very low % of support. Thankful for you. I actually was quite frustrated that I could not copy and paste a PM to another member on here-which we have been chatting a bit. I finally (thought) I got the message to go through, I had to chop up the copy/paste in 2 different PM's. It went through on my end, but she says she could not see/read it.

I happened to PM 'alex', who is the founder of WP.....2nd time I've msg'd him for tech help. Do you think he replied either time? NOPE. It seems he's created this forum and then subsequently has washed his hands of it?

I am curious (& thankful) about your posts above, trying to help me. What do you mean by?:

3.0.11 is now very old (2012)

There was 'one' emoji in the copy/paste I was trying to share, I think that was the culprit. As, I just copy/pasted the message again...without emoji....it went through! Now, hopefully, she will be able to 'read' it. Thanks!! !!

No problem.

I means that the version of the software used to run this forum is old, from 2012.

phpBB 3.1 is different from phpBB 3.0 architecturally, so it is bigger change.

I thought they would have updated to 3.1 given they took so long to update from an earlier version of 3.0. I may be they struggled to do it, and it may be due to integration with some of the other software they are running.

I don't fancy my chances of getting through to Alex either.
