It gets confusing for those of us who browse with multiple tabs, when we have to read the body of the messages in order to know what thread they reside in. It would be nice if the thread title showed up in the title bar, the way it does on every other online forum that I use.

I agree. Once someone is on the forum, I don't think they need reminded of it with the usual "Wrong Planet - Aspergers and Autism Community" line. Thread titles would be much more useful.

I'm glad somebody agrees.

So, moderators and/or administrators, how about it? May we see the thread title as the page title, so that it shows up in the title bar? Please?

Never gave it much thought as I rarely have more than two WP tabs open. But I see what you mean I may get cofused to which tab it is I maybe clicking on.

Thats something only the site admin Alex can change.

So, Alex, would you perhaps get the thread titles to appear in the page title/title-bar? It’s very tedious to have to scroll all the way to the top of the page, to read the subject of the first post, just to know what thread the tab belongs to.

That is annoying, I must agree. I hope alex does make it happen.

On the other hand, if one is doing a number of different things at once, and only has one WP tab open (usually the case for me), this would probably be a bit of a hindrence.

Instead of "Wrong Planet - Aspergers and Autism Community" it could be "Wrong Planet - [THREAD TITLE]." That way it still says WP on it somewhere, but it also has info on the specific thread.

Definitely would work. Shouldn't be too hard to do either.

Hardly even needs that. The WP icon is there anyway. Just "WP - thread title" would suffice if the icon doesn't work in your browser? That would work in the "Back" history as well. My "Back" list just repeatedly says "Wrong Planet - Aspergers and Autism Community", which is of zero use.

Big vote for this from me.

ALSO!! !! !!

I've just noticed (again, and I've looked even harder...) that there is no trace of the thread title when typing a reply (i.e. what I'm doing at this instant).

(Not totally true... if the review goes back as far as the initial post, the subject there is the thread title, I guess. Who uses the subject line on individual posts? I'm not sure I'd even notice if there was one used.)

PS. I use SeaMonkey. I've used tabbed browsing since Mozilla introduced it. I typically have one browser window open with at least six tabs. While I Google things, the tab count goes up to twenty. There's not a lot of space on each. Tab. At this instant, I have my basic average of six tabs. Two are WP, one Google search, Two Wikipedia, and a third WP at the end. This is the second WP tab. I had to look to see what the other two were looking at, as "Wrong Planet - Asp..." is all I can see on each tab. I'd find it very little improvement to have "Wrong Planet - <thread title>", as I'd only see the first three characters, which would be a clue toward which thread, but not much of one. (OK, So I can hover on the tab, and it'll show the full title string and a thumbnail of the page.)

To be honest, I think I have, on occasion.

However, I then realised that I don't read them (because 99% are blank). In a sense, I don't even see them. Only after I read your post did I look and see that you had a non-blank subject.

Curiously, shadexiii duplicated the thread title into the subject line on his first post here. I wonder why.

No reason to wonder. I don't know how it happened, as I don't usually enter anything in the subject field.

How about it, Alex? May we please see the thread title in the page title?
