Hi,

I recently registered an account here and I have a question.

Can somebody please explain the difference between the nickname and the username and whether this is a glitch or not? Because when I go and change my public display name from my username to a different display name, it won't change on my profile or post and I still have the name I registered with seen publically rather than this new display name, even though I press the confirm button in the profile settings. I would like my display name to be different to my username.

Could someone help please?

back from february 2015 to around the end of the following spring, we had different user profiles.

everyone thought the "nickname" was the return of the missed custom rank, but this wasn't to be.

then, your "username" displayed only on the top of the page, in the tab bar after "viewing profile:" this was all it was. this was the only place where it displayed, and after the old profiles were restored because of a glitch preventing further profile/avatar editing, nicknames were taken with it.

it's a relic of a bygone era, if you will.

if you want a complete username change, it isn't possible unfortunately. the only other way would be to reregister.

Would I be allowed to have my account closed and reregister?
