A site claiming to promote diversity that still enforces the gender binary via its profile options? A supposed safe space for autistic people that forces anyone with a nonbinary gender identity to pick a side? When autism often comes along with a strong aversion to dissembling and social interactions when the environment is not perceived as friendly? I'm having difficulty finding anything eloquent to say because my visceral reaction consists of sputtering and derogatory remarks about people's intellect. Yet I don't have any idea of whom to blame for this, so I can't direct my verbal teardown at its deserving target.

Please change it yesterday. This will allow us nonbinary autistic folks to interact on this site without lying to everyone in each post.

Autism is not related to gender. This is a site for autistic people.

Plenty of autistic people have genders. And plenty don't feel like the gender binary accurately describes us. So yes, it's applicable.

It is 2016 and this is just another way this site does not reflect that.
I would put your gender identity or non identity in your signature as a workaround

I'm pretty sure everyone has a gender......
However, I don't believe what I identify as should have any bearing on the content of my posts or somehow cause any distress to me. I have no need to tell everyone I'm male, and if there wasn't an option for it I wouldn't really be bothered.

There are plenty of multi gender, gender dysphoria and LGBTQ sites that cater for your needs. I suggest using them if you are concerned about gender, and WrongPlanet when you are concerned about Autism or the Autism spectrum.

Frankly I have more important things in my life to worry about than either, and come here just to hang out with fellow people on the spectrum and talk politics, games and relationships.

I agree. I do not have the power to change it but I'd definitely add a few extra options ("prefer not to say" and "non-binary" would be my picks).

Alex is, I think, the only one who could make the change. Although he's been around more lately, I don't think he has time to make changes that aren't completely vital.
