Hmmmm well, here's a variation on this - when I used a PC in my local library last week, instead of the 'Russian YouTube' page I got an advert for some sort of 'get rich quick' trading scheme called 'Quantum'. It didn't look very reputable at all, so I didn't bother clicking on anything and exited straightaway.
I visited the library again today, and this time the 'side dish' with WP was a site called 'Mydirtyfling'. Out of curiosity I clicked on the link, and a red warning page came up from the library's computer security system, stating that access to pornographic material was barred. I'm actually a little apprehensive now that my library membership could be suspended if this creates a report log.
So what's going on here? Why do my computers at home give me the same harmless YouTube link that everyone else seems to get, whereas the ones at the library bring up this other stuff? And does WP have any connection to 'Quantum' and 'Mydirtyfling' - I certainly hope not!!
The link you are seeing is not a "harmless Youtube link" but a chain of redirects created by embedded malware.
The malware is functioning as intended on the library computer due to the fact that it has no ad-blocking software.
