More info on threads that don't open...

I think it is individual posts that are causing the web server to fault. I ran into a page that wouldn't load in the "Why am I so well adjusted?" thread in the "General Discussion" forum. That thread is 6 pages long, and I can see pages 1-4 and page 6, but page 5 simply won't load. I decided to hack the URL by starting with the default url for page 6 (which is http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php? name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4546&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75) and reduced the "start" value by one post at a time. It finally failed when I got to post number 71. I then went to page 4 and started increasing the "start" value by one, and again it was fine until I got to 53 and then failed at 54. That means that the server doesn't like posts 69 and 71 (since each page contains 15 posts). Perhaps Alex or one of the other programmer types can do a manual SQL query to find out what's so special about those posts.

All I know is that I can't get into the flirting thread to flirt.

Update: Those pages containing posts 69-71 do eventually load, but it takes several minutes for the server to respond. Once it starts sending the page everything renders normally.

To add my own .02$ here, I think the problem is not necessarly rooted in the post itself, but the script/software that creates the page.

I was doing some exploring this afternoon and noticed I can open a thread that dosen't respond by getting into a page that will open, and then hitting "split topic".

When I hit that button, the page will open properly.
