Is there any way to show your age without sharing your DOB? If not I think its one of those things we should tackle if a switch can be linked in to show one thing but not the other. In my own case, while I'd love to post my age, I worry that full date of birth is TMI and yes, someone could just watch my profile until my age changes and figure it out but I'd rather they have to work that hard for it if I don't want people to generally have that info on me right out of the gate (while its not a HUGE identity theft risk its still not a good thing IMHO).

If you really are that worried just put a fake birth date that is close to your real one

I do agree though, I think there needs to be a lot redone for the user profiles

Use a fake DOB that shows up your real age, change it when needed.

I use a fake DOB in my profile so people can see my age plus or minus a few months but not my true birth date. There is too much identity theft risk nowadays without giving personal information away. Nobody here needs to know my real DOB just that fact that I'm an old fart!

Yeah, that was my first thought but I wanted to bypass the whole problem of "OMG! You have the same birthday as my sister!" or girls going on about my astrological sign, all the kinds of things that just go horribly wrong. I remember putting a fake zipcode in for Myspace when I didn't want employers finding out more about me than I wanted them to and I got enough of those "Wow, how did I not know that I guy like you lived in my area?" - things like that never happen unless I'm fudging some info about myself and I'd rather they not happen at all if its going to be like that.

That said I'd really rather have age: 32, DOB: NOYFB (or at least a blank space) show up.
