interested in moderatorship

Just wanted to bring to your attention my interest in being considered for moderatorship, please.

I know there are several hundred people who frequent this board daily and you'd have to sort through them to even get someone who's at least interested. Just wanted to throw my name out there.

I realize you may not be looking for one right now but it's something I've always wanted to do and like I said, just wanted to make my interest known.

Power can get to peoples heads. Even if its an internet message board. Not saying that I wouldnt do the moderation job if asked myself, but only if it was an intresting challenge.

Just a few of my criteria:

Quantity of posts

Quality of posts

Length of membership

Consistant compliance with the rules

Positive, productive, proactive involvement in problems

Lack of judgmentality

Life experience and maturity

Calm demeanor and overall consistancy

There are lots of people who are certain that they know how to do this job. I consider them to be untrainable. Moderation privileges were granted to me in stages, and only after I had contributed substantially to the well-being of the site by bring problems to the attention of the owner. Today, Alex is able to be less involved in the non-technical aspects of operating the site. Problems should be brought to the attention of a moderator. Private Messages get the most immediate attention.

Those are the only qualities (the ones I highlighted) that I can honestly say I had when I was drafted. I had to develop the rest PDQ.

However, I would add previous experience as a mod or admin as desirable (but not necessary).

I think i fail a few of those on the list, lol. Doesnt mean I cant be trained though...

The best people are willing to put the interests of the site ahead of the interests of any individual member, including themselves, and are fundamentally lazy, prefering not to have to go to work.

As the Organians said, "We find interference in the affairs of others to be most distasteful."

Alex understands that the moment he concludes that it is in the best interest of the site for me to remove myself, I will not hesitate to do so.

Oh, well I don't feel I can answer objectively except to say nobody's perfect. Fortunately, this is not medicine. Nobody dies if we make a mistake. Alex could probably give you a more objective answer. Would I be correct to infer that you don't feel I meet my own criteria very well?

Given the stability of some of the members on here, id say you have that potential to cause serious harm unintentionally as a mod. Even more so intentionally.
