I'm not ok with the idea of MrMark thinking its ok to make duplicate thread when I have locked such threads by other members many times in the past. So I resigned as a moderator. I submitted a list a a few days ago after Quatermass recommended Alex add a few more moderators. Should be no problem finding good replacements.

We had our disagreements,
but I'm sorry as hell to see
you go. You showed a great
deal of restraint, overall.

On all the webboards I've been on, and I've been on over 100, you're the best moderator I've known. I feel like WP won't be run so well now that you're not one here any more! :(

But it is liberating, isn't it? ;)

Yeah, now he can join where the real
work is, sniping from the sidelines. :P

You will only get one shot. :P

Are you as obsessed with snipers as David Brent's father and Gareth Keenan in this The Office clip?

it's a PITY to resign because of that.

People who reopen closed threads show a lack of respect. And it is only normal that the website team discusses the behavior of these people in private...

NB: Being myself moderator on another forum, sometimes, I am sometimes faced with the same issues (but, I for starters discuss the issues with people concerned, and if there is no reply, then I may get nasty, well only with those trouble makers who chose to disrespect the ethics and forum's codes of conduct).

Oh dear. :( I am sure you know what you're doing, but I am sorry to hear it.

Indeed. I operated under the assumption that
I would NOT second guess other mods actions.

One of the reasons that I resigned, was that I
felt that I could not do both this, and properly
carry out my duties, as I understood them.

The idea of having Alf as a mod, I thought it was kinda cool.
I suppose being a mod is demanding, taking a certain amount of time to do the job, I don't know how a person with ADD can handle this, it must be hard I guess. At least you are relief and liberated somehow. You have more time to do other stuff now.

i did resign from another forum too myself. The members had plain no idea what a moderator does (some though moderators are advocates of the devil). Well, I resigned, as I had no time to waste with (visibly) NT kids having their own NT fun.

Goddamnit! You're mucking up my plans! I was going to post a silly little bit of fun in the "slam book" thread. I was going to start things off by telling my friend Ana54 that I "worship the spammy attention whore" for just a bit of fun, to start things off. Then, my second entry was going to be that TheMachine1 is "a wise a tollerant moderator for being able to appreciate someone like Ana". I might still post the bit and pretend you haven't resigned (I define my own reality when it suits me). You're going to stick around as a regular poster, right? I hope so.

I found it interesting that you and calandale had your differences; I like both of your styles, as contradictory as they sometimes seemed to be. In fact, I've appreciated having a rather eclectic mix of moderators hereabout the WP. I appreciate the variety in opinion over how to do things; it encourages discussion and debate and growth and evolution, rather than one static, stale, pre-defined way of doing everything. We learn through our differences; when we all agree, things tend to get boring. I'm sorry things have to devolve down to a pissing match, sometimes. But such is the way of things with humans.

I'll be curious to see who the new mods turn out to be.

Good fortune,

- Icarus has been a Moderator
