I've noticed a certain member has been necro trolling lately...(going to old topics and replying) it makes some things confusing...is this against the rules?

You sure it is necro-trolling, or just necroing?

Necormancer has a supernatural ability to bring long-dead forum discussion threads back to life. After having been flogged to death the thread may have been deceased for many years, and bringing it back may have scant relevance to the current topic, yet Necromancer will unexpectedly exhume the thread’s rotting corpse, and strike horror in the forum as its grotesque form lurches into the discussion. The monster, instantly recognized by all who knew it in life, seems at first to breathe and have a pulse, but, alas, it is beyond Necromancer’s skill to fully restore the thread’s original vitality. The hideous apparition may frighten away some of the weaker Warriors or Warriors badly wounded in former battles, but the thread is only a shadow of its former self and very quickly expires.

Unlike Archivist, Necromancer compulsively saves every forum message in carefully preserved archives for future use in battle, while Necromancer collects departed threads merely for the thrill of resurrecting them. Some say he performs this unnatural act out of malice, others say he can’t help himself, but no one really knows.

Trolling is only when you make objectionable and personally insulting replies to threads, whether they are elderly or not. Necroing is a form of perseverating and who perseverates more than an Aspie?

No. Necro trolling is when you bring back dead posts to gain post count.

you are confusing trolls, flammers, spammer, and necromancers here.

Troll- person who posts obviously questionable material merely to attract the hated posts of others and cause chaos

Flammer- Normally the ones that 'feed' the trolls. They post messages that amount to little more then insults

Spammers- those that post pointless or unwanted messages. Normaly either for post count or advertising

Necromancer- People that bring back long dead threads by posting in them. This is rarely done out of malice and on some forums is preffered to starting a new thread about the same topic. On others necromancing is frowned upon and view that a new fresh thread is better then beating a dead horse.

a necromancer is the same as a necro troll.

necro troll would be someone that raises a dead thread for the purposes of trolling. Most common on forums that view necromancing as a somewhat serious offence

Yes there is, actually. A necro troll is a person who brings up old posts simply to cause fights. A necromancer wants to save repeating a subject that has already been brought up before and simply recycles an old thread. A necro spammer is somebody who brings up old posts just to get their post count up.

There is too! The difference lies in the intent behind the behaviour and this is something that is not always readily apparent, except in the case of the necro troll.
