Is it possible to use our real name as a username? My name is confusing people into thinking I'm male. If it was changed to Ashleigh (my real name) it might make things easier.

Using your real name is possible, but not advisable. So don't do it, unless you want perverts and weirdos coming after you.

We can but hope. Or Samus Aran. But pick something you won't change from.

I used to use my real name on another board and never had any problems, doesn't really matter what you call yourself, its more to do with how people see you.

On one board a young man believed I was in love with him because I said his art was good, I also said other people's art was good. :?

Yeah, well, it won't do you any good if someone who has a bone to pick with you comes around.

When do I ever get into a proper fight with anyone. If I discover that I'm wrong - I'll always apologize. If I think I'm right but can't win - I stop answering. Sometimes I just try to see things from a different point of view and it helps.

I've been using my name online for years and have a reasonably well-known presence. I don't provide enough info for identity theft and will often change just one or two details so that if someone did steal my name I could identify where from.

There are some people here though who do seem to get into fights - if that were the case, a real name could be a problem.

I sometimes use my real name online but mostly I decide not to these days. I don't want people coming to find me if I can at all help it. Not all people are reasonable, you know? So you have to be careful. I wouldn't tell random strangers who I am so the same should apply on the Internets.
