Odd bug

Yeah, I just joined yesterday, but when I go to a specific topic then back to the forum index, the globe with the white blob is still there, saying there are new messages, when there really aren't. The only way to reset it that I have found is to close firefox, re-open it and go to WP again.

My laptop's keyboard is broken, using Firefox on the family PC until the new one I ordered gets here. Sorry, but I would rather not use IE on this comp, I am the only one to use firefox, everyone else uses IE, I think my dad keeps tabs on what everybody does on it. I will test with both Firefox (my normal browser of choice) and IE once I get my laptop working again, though, if you want.

A keylogger? Oh, wow, I would be in some deep trouble if he had one of those. I know how to look for the external hardware ones, but how can I detect whether there is a keylogger program? Thanks a lot, now I am all paranoid about being spied upon by my parents again, lol.

Well, I did it. I searched through the processes, turned off anything remotely suspicious, checked for any parental controls active, turned off the phishing filter, ect. I plan to delete the cookies after I type this. I tried with IE, which I am using now, and the same thing happened. The new message thing stayed on after I had read all the messages in that catagory. In a few days, when my laptop is working (or as close as that cheap thing ever gets to working) I will test it with that, too.

Hmmmmm. I still do not have my laptop fixed, but I am using a school laptop in the school library atm, and the same thing is happening. This happening to anyone else? And I have XP home edition on my house computer, dunno what this laptop has.
