Its an american-based site and most nations in which english is the official language (including much of north america) were colonies of the empire.
It would be surprising if the overwhelming majority of members were not from the defunct empire.

Got a problem with members from the Commonwealth?
Look at the name of the site, Wrong PLANET, that may be a hint.

You have a problem with America? Come here, you have the freedom of speech to say it.

you say it over some technology the government is 'listening into'
and they will remember who you are and when you said it, though.

Not to mention that whatever you say here, it remains forever, at least for a great time, archived, in forums.
And when you screw things up saying the wrong thing, anyone here can go back and read that exact thing, years later.

Problem is, coming up with something worth reading, especially with all of the spam messages most forums accumulate.
Maybe if you had a million aspies locked in a forum, they may come up with something intelligent to say.
Nah not going to happen.

The government doesn't really have the resources to waste time lurking on WP. As important as we may think we are, no one else cares all that much.

goodness knows what you think I am talking about, Orwell.

I am referring to the Bush administration that had set up a secret surveillance program outside of the FISA court, and had engaged the cooperation of some telecom companies in tapping into and copying all telephone and Internet communications of every American beginning in 2001.

if tin foil hats work against this, then I will buy a couple of rolls of foil today!

Wal-Mart also does this crap according to some accounts I've read.
I think I've been put on a watch-list.

So, if the U.S. government has ALL the phone records and ALL the Internet communication records of some 300 million people going back at least 7 years (I heard they collected phone records for a long time before that too), what will they actually do with them?

I know they can seek out key words, but say you searched 7 years worth of records of 300 million people for, say, the name of some illegal drug. How many results would that generate? And then what would you do with those results?

Even if they did complex boolean searches, wouldn't they reach a point where they'd have to read millions of pages of transcripts just to find out who to focus on and what to do with them? And how long would that take? Long enough for the info to be out-dated, statutes of limitations expired, etc.?

I'm not being critical; I'm just trying to understand this better. I thought the government was putting all its resources towards blowing up people and other things . . . Oh, and then there's that rapidly increasing debt that they don't seem to care about . . .
