I think it would be a good idea to display the number of messages in each of the private mail folders after logging on or when clicking the messages button without needing to open the folders.
Sometimes it would be convenient to know if someone has picked up a PM that has been sent without opening folders to see if it has moved from the out-unread to the sent-read folder.
