The foreign language and statistical fora are as slow as I-35E in Dallas during rush hour.

Just would like it if the Stat's and Language subforums could be promoted better or otherwise helped to be more active, since they appear to be the slowest fora on WP.

I feel like it's a reflection of the amount of interest.

Are you saying that you'd like to artifically inflate the apparent amount of interest in those forums?

And when you do write a post in another language, it gets deleted if you didn't put it in the thread that members of that language are using for all their posts

Interest is partially controlled by methods of advertisement.

Perhaps if the layout of the forum index were modified so that it were shorter, say by decreasing font size and having a divider in the middle, then all of the subforums would be more easily seen and interest would be divided more evenly.

have you ever been on a forum where statistics got much of interest (aside from one about statistics) - I haven't

If there were much interest in the foreign language one, then that language would be given their own foreign language site. So if you look down as see 50 people regularly posting in romanian, you know it won't last for long because those 50 will soon be given a wrongplanet.ro to use, or at the very least one forum designated solely to their language. The purpose of foreign language forums is for those who only know less popular languages to find people to communicate with even if there isn't enough of an interest for a breakway forum. just imagine how annoying it would be if you say spoke english and were posting on a russian forum, but had to scroll through 50 Romanian posts in the foreign language forum just to find one in english that you could respond to. Wouldn't that give you a headache?

I'm not that great at it, but I learned all the dutch I know from being designated the contact person between the dutch and english versions of another site I was on. The dutch were given their own version because there were too many of them for it to be reasonable for them to be expected to use the foreign language forum on the english version - the russians tried it but only had like 2 posters so they had to go back to using the english forum

* Foreign language user...

I use a few times the Dutch topic, but for typical dutch subjects I most times use dutch fora. On the dutch fora there is more knowledge on these topics. But I like other kinds of topics more on WP, since there is no Dutch forum with that has the range of topics and users WP provides.
