Reporting trolls

Should there be a "report" feature for inappropriate posts and trolls/spammers?
Yes, agreed, this would make reporting them to the mods easier 56%  56%  [ 5 ]
No, but there should be some way of contacting the mods about such 11%  11%  [ 1 ]
A thread might work for this 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
An email/pm link to the mods might be best 33%  33%  [ 3 ]

How would I go about reporting known trolls to the moderators?

is there a button somewhere to click, or could this feature be implemented or is there a thread for it (I've never found one as such)

this would make it easier to report trolls and ban evaders

This is only a suggestion, but another website has a special account called "MODERATOR," which all of the admins, mods, and owners have access to. One single PM to this account provides all of the people in charge with the opportunity to respond (but only the admin/webmaster can delete the messages).

It's minimally invasive, requires no software changes or updates, and allows all members to remember only one name instead of a half-dozen.

that sort of thing would work for a place as big as this, one name to inform ALL the mods/admin/whoever

The major problem then would be getting the members to actually use it, instead of letting them create threads full of complaints about members and staff.

I don't think being a "known" troll is a reportable offence, Pikachu. People call others trolls for all sorts of reasons, and unless you think someone is really looking to cause serious trouble, it's probably best keeping your mouth shut, so to speak. That's just my opinion, for what it's worth. Fnord's angling for a mod position, so he'll no doubt suggest hanging, drawing, and quartering.

being a known troll isn't reportable, however being a known troll and actually trolling is, that is what I meant, I wasn't all that clear

I like that idea. It's simple, and it's fair. It allows the mod who has time to respond first to respond, allowing for faster action. It also protects the mods from public attacks - if a member does not like the way something was handled, they can complain about the action(s), or lack thereof, and not the individual.
