Does anyone else have trouble sometimes when trying to make a post longer than one or two lines (like this?)

No one else? I can't say many things of substance if I'm having to truncate all my posts.

I haven't noticed that problem, when did this start happening for you.

It started happening about a month ago. It seems to come and go. If I try to post or even preview a message longer than one or two lines, the browser hangs for a while, then goes to a white screen.

What browser?

I can't think of any reason for what you describe.

Unless... you haven't installed some clever spellcheck think, which has a messed up dictionary? Or something along those lines.

My browser is Firefox 3. I haven't installed any weird spellcheckers, just the regular Firefox updates (actually, it installs updates automatically.) And like I said, the problem comes and goes... there will be periods of time (like right now) when I can make longer posts, but those periods usually go away after a while.

OK, the issue must be related to the browser. Once again, I've hit a period where I can't make long posts in Firefox, but I just tested it in Explorer and it has no problems.

Blast... I hate Explorer... oh well.

Have you changed your Firefox profile, or added one that could be competing with the other?

Exit from Firefox and go to Start. In RUN paste: firefox.exe -ProfileManager and look to see if there is more than one profile. If you don't need to save any settings, just choose default and see what happens.

All very peculiar. It would appear not merely to be Firefox, but you+Firefox?

I don't mean that in any nasty way - just that no one else seems to be getting the problem you describe.

I mainly use SeaMonkey, but I do occasionally use Firefox (3.0.3) with a selection of extensions (AdBlock Plus + Element hiding, BBCodeXtra, Greasemonkey, Image Zoom, Live HTTP Headers, NoScript, Ubuntu, Web Developer) and plugins. I've noticed no problems.

I know there were some complaints about Firefox 3 being flaky, at odd points, but I don't see where that matches up with what you describe.

I wonder... if there are extensions that you can't live without, you could have a shot at using Seamonkey ( http://www.seamonkey-project.org/ ), just to verify if you are get the same problems (after all, the underlying engine will be the same).

Do you have internet security software? Some will interfere with browsers even ebbed themselves without official plugin status. There is also the possibility of key loggers, or it is just a bug. I have found some firefox 3 bugs, such as javascript errors when javascript is turned off.
