I have a suggestion regarding the notifications. If someone replies, send the message along with the email. That way it is easier for users to know whether or not it is worth visiting the forum just to make a reply or just to see the message.

I am strongly recommending this, because I find that when I receive an email notification about a reply, I then go to the forum only to find out that the reply was not worth reading (I am not implying anything about offensive replies, more like the sort of replies which do not help very much)

Reading the email notification, clicking the link, waiting for the page to load up and then finding out that the forum reply is not worth looking at or is not helpful is an absolute waste of time in my opinion.

I am not sure about others, but waiting for an entire forum to load up just for one message is not really worth it.

And it isn't because I use Microfost Internet Exploder. I am using Opera.

Absolutely.

A reply taken out of context may be misconstrued as rudeness or presumption, and not a rational reply.

sounds like a good idea to me, yahoo groups does that, reply or new message sends body of message in email.

if wrongplanet did that then it could mean one less click to see what person said and if you feel like responding or not to their reply or comment.

problem is, i don't think PHPBB is set up to do that or have that feature, maybe you can suggest that for PHPBB ver. 4, highest version out now is PHPBB3.

not sure about vbulletin but do know that it would cost Alex alot more since i think vbulletin the software isn't free.
