I don't QUITE see how it's offensive.
I do, however, agree with W looking like it's supporting certain religions or sects.

But, I ALWAYS get Autism: Materials and Social Stories to teach language and conversation.

Normal human society is offensive to me yet I don't want it condemed. Most Aspies's are ultratolerant of other views since by and large we consider them trivial so what's the big deal. Ignore what you don't like here just like you ignore it elsewhere in the real world. Prop 8 doesn't mean jack. If people want to get married there are a host of alternative churches that will marry anybody and the state already has pretty good 'partner' rules for the legal stuff. Marriage is a state of mind not a piece of paper.

For the most part I agree, but I can't wrap my head around any legislated discrimination. Religion and homophobia would be the only forces driving a vote to limit rights.

Yours is a very pragmatic attitude, which I respect, but proposition 8 is, symbolically, a giant step backward for peoples' rights. Not just gay rights, but everyone's. Mainly because it seems so arbitrary. I mean, you straight, relgious, conservative, or what-have-you voters, why do you even care? It's like voting to make it illegal to wear yellow on tuesday. On the one hand, you can say "I'll just wear yellow in the privacy of my home"...but it's not a reasonable or logical law. And - dangerous precedent - it takes a freedom away. Next time it could be a freedom you value.

true.
I find prostelizing religions tiresome, because their doctrines induce people to go out and 'save souls' for their deity. However I find that attraction works better than promotion.

Buddhists see here as 'hell' and work just to get out of the endless death and rebirth cycle and recycle to samsara, or not having a body at all.

Seconded, but think we should take this to PPR... there's a lot of interesting history of that sect over the years.

It would not surprise me if some people deliberately clicked on the Mormon ads just so the Mormons have to pay the click fee and Alex / Wrong Planet get extra income.

Of course such behaviour would be click fraud. Especially if people just opened up the Mormon propaganda in another browser tab and simply closed it after it had downloaded.

So:
1. Mormons get billed.
2. Alex / WP makes a little money.
3. Mormons have more stress on their servers.

Someone might think that is win, win, win.

Also, if it weren't for the Mormons, we wouldn't have those fancy casinos in Las Vegas.

I had an ad-blocker on. I feel bad about not support WP though. I might exclude WP from the ad blocking.

Do the ads contain offensive materials, or is it just you who chooses to be offended by Mormons?

Keep in mind that the Church of Latter Day Saints is not the only Christian organization that supported the passage of California's Proposition 8, but that the support of Prop 8 was preached in practically every other church in California and elsewhere ... with the possible exception of the Episcopalian Churches.

How about the Universalist Unitarians and all New Thought churches (Unity, Science of Mind, Divine Science etc.)? Do I come from one of the few churches that have gay groups?

Perhaps one could look at it as the Mormons supporting you. Or perhaps not.

Love, Nora

The situation is irrelevant. The OP no longer posts on WP, and the Mormon ads seem to have gone away.
