Why no "Warning Bars" like other forums have?

(No, please don't say "Because we're not other forums." That's the most cliché and annoying, authoritarian answer out there.)

You know about how bars show below your username - it shows "Warn - 0%" and a bar showing how far along on the warning accumulation bar you are.

Why don't we have any of that? Sometimes as Aspies, we don't get any subtle warnings. Sure, body language and tone may be the warnings we don't pick up in real life, but without being such things, there are some subtleties on the forums that we don't pick up either. Not getting their underlying meaning could be our downfalls. That's why it would help to have a warning bar for each user on the forum. At least that's one of the reasons. I'm sure you can think of others.

Because it would bother some people overly. Some aspies are prone to anxiety and the intent of this place is make aspies feel welcome, accepted and at peace.

Another reason I can think of is this: if I was a bully at 5% and you were at 95%, I could push you pretty hard hoping you'd crack and get yourself banned.

Know your adversary better than he knows you: it behooves the administration here to know you better than you know their thoughts on you. Knowledge is ammunition.

I've never seen a forum do that anyway. If you are in any real trouble they will tell you. They are aspies and pretty blunt people.

Very well. At least forums can also set them so the users can only view their own warning bars.

That might be all right, yeah.

Seems troubling to me to have a "meter." I would think that either you follow the rules and in, or don't and are out. Having a scale seems to introduce inconsistant judgement due to multiple moderators.

I like the idea of a 'Speedometer' so we'd know when we were approaching light speed on some threads.

I like to idea of bars, like some sites use Karma to indicate a members pos / neg posts,
but its entirely up to the site owner, so whining about it won't accomplish anything.

I would have been so intimidated by a 'karma bar' or 'warning bar' accumulating over my 'head'. I wonder if you can do 'brownie points' to make it go down, as well. That would seem so insincere.. .

I am glad we don't have them here. WP is of the opinion that everyone has potential.

I'd be uncomfortable with such a system. Warnings come before bans anyways, except in the case of obvious spam-trolls, so I don't see any real function this would fill.

Karma... it's everywhere you're going to be. :P Including WP.

They never bothered me. Mine was always at zero. I don't post often on those forums.

Not posting seems like a good way to keep it at zero.
