I know this will never happen but two avatars really is the bees knees. I need to feel comforted that cryptopsys none so vile doesnt feel snubbed as one of the greatest records ever produced, and only two avatars will accomplish this.

Everything in nature comes in two so why not? :)

I would gladly pay every month for some VIP perks like that.

You could always create an animated gif that switches between two different images, but you may have problems getting the file size down to WP's meagre limit.

You may have to compromise and make the pixel dimensions of the image small to meet the file size requirements. Normally if the differences between two (or more) images comprising an animated gif are small (e.g. a face with blinking eyes), the composite file isn't much larger than one of the images. However, if the composite images are very different then the final gif is around the size of the total bytes of the composites.
Why not have a play and see what you can do. I've created animated gifs before that have worked ok here.
