Views count surely can't be correct...?

I just posted a thread and the moment the page reloaded it already had 6 views... but no one was even on that board! and how is it possible to have 6 views only 2msecs after submitting a thread?

Yeah, the list of people who are viewing the board, at the top, is screwed up also. Sometimes I am there and my name is not listed and people are making posts and are not listed, other times we are listed. These are probably minor flaws compared to the big ones, like getting the alex video all the time because the board is overloaded.

I fly in stealth mode, so you never see my name. Lau once explained how the view count works. I will see if I can find the thread. I will come back and edit if I find it.

I actually noticed something: the views seem to go up three at a time. I noticed this with my own threads. I don't know why, though. But does this go a little way to answering your question?

First views are done threes on this site and are an estimate, but it is not like a cache so it a bit pointless it saves very little resources if anything. There are much better ways that you can save on resources, which they not doing. That is why they are getting the 'too many people' page quite often.

Basically it is customary to store these counts rather than calculate them on the fly when it is not critical. I wouldn't pay them any notice. Personally I think they are just another thin that clutters board that are mostly pointless.

You can't go on the count for who is on the board anyway, as that is also an estimate.

Simply requesting these pages, without letting them load or even come back will bring up the count. So if a couple of people are getting impatient then it can stack up.

It's an outrage! If I was not quick of the mark I would have been shocked by such behaviour. It hardly befitting of someone of your stock—not something they teach in finishing school, is it?

I always get confused by your surname I know there are various regional variations such as Confitz, Confis, Confí and some stranger ones such as Confidillamon, Cage aux Confolles, etc. But which one do you use?
