I have not encountered a single forum on the internet that is as slow as this. You have an online store, and ads plastered over the site, you should be doing well enough to upgrade.

You should be embarrassed by the "we're too busy" screen. I just made a very extensive multi-quote post and, thinking that if I hit the busy screen that I could hit the back button to go back to my post, I hit the submit button. IT DROPPED MY POST. That is just unacceptable.

One can always make contributions and suggestions; if the conditions are unbearable then you do have options. If you hit resend post information, then I have found that the posts do end up being made intact and not lost - it is when one hits the back button that the content is lost.

If I'm composing a long post for WP I tend to do so off line using a text editor then copy and paste it into WP. Frankly I'm starting to lose interest in WP due to it being so slow or frequently unavailable. Today it has been unbearably slow on several occasions and I've just closed down the browser and got on with other things.

Life is too short to sit waiting for WP screens to come up, or not come up as the case may be. I wonder how many people have given up on the site due to its poor performance? I may be one of them soon. I'm certainly cutting down my visits due to irritation with its lack of speed.

I know it puts me off bothering to look at, or post on, as many threads, and as Tallyman says it has several times, increasingly often, led to me logging-off completely.

I definitely get the impression that discussions are less lively than they used to be, that fewer people contribute to any given thread, and that some forums are increasingly slow-moving, in terms of activity on threads.

The most frustrating aspect is that it, ( the speed ), varies so much, so that have no idea what it's going to be like from one moment to the next.

I might contribute in the future if I stick around for a while. However, I don't think my $100 should make too much of a difference. They should be doing ok with the google ads.

I'll adapt a different strategy for long posts in the future, but the issue should definitely be raised for reasons stated by TallyMan. I imagine a lot of people are turned off to the site because of the lack of quick and efficient functionality.

use firefox with the adblockplus addon,to remove all the ads.

Yeah, I've lost some posts because of the wait screen - it's a real PITA when that happens.

On our site we have a tracker that processes millions of scrapes every day and the forum runs a heck a lot smoother than WP.

I don't want to moan too much being a n00b and everything but this site is WELL SLOW lol

I copy most of my posts just before I hit "send". That way, if they are lost, I just need to paste them into the textbox.

I've never lost a post, when I just hit "back" or "refresh". Either seems to do. (SeaMonkey)

Mind you, I have lost posts when I've accidentally closed a tab... where I was editing a post, and hadn't in fact sent it yet!

I'm not much of a computer guy myself, so I have no idea what's involved in the technical side of running a forum.

But I'd figure a bunch of aspies would put together the best running site on the internet.

Having been a member for around a year I've discovered that there are many experts in many fields on this site. There is enough skill on this site to accomplish anything! The limiting factors seem to be lack of money and motivation. There is only one developer for this site - Alex, the owner. He is quite young and may not have the time, motivation or money to get the site up to date.

In principle a group of aspies could create an alternative site, but I doubt such a group could be corralled into working in the same direction for long enough without each wanting to create the site their own way. I hate collaborating on a team with others and I think this is a common aspie problem anyway.

There are other sites but they are not support sites, I think it would be a cool idea to if other AS support sites be formed on a county or continental bases, that way their members would have better access to local information.
Its sad to say, but WP just is not up to the task.

I've made numerous suggestions. None of which have gone answered (or replied to as the case may be)

For example, I think the powers that be should move the site to a host that can handle more than 500 visitors at any given time. Seems like every time there are 500+ visitors, the forum slows to a crawl. Where are TPTB to address it or to pacify the masses?

Furthermore, there really should be an ignore function! There are more than enough trolls, spammers, flamers, and downright annoying individuals to warrant such a feature.

WP is happy to have anyone that wants to join, however we are not all things to all people.
The Google ad revenue have dropped considerably in the last year and a half, along with the rest of the economy. People use ad blockers and that cuts down more on the potential revenue. We have grown exponentally in the few years we have been here, and might have reached our capacity.
