Hi folks,

Many of you are painfully familiar with my crazy ideas. I just get really excited about unusual projects that never seem to work. lol.

We need online support groups. I want to talk in a small 5-10 person private forum. We could post updates on the women we are in contact with and how things are going. We could post pictures of ourselves and read comments on getting a new haircut, buying new shoes, or shaving.

What do you all think? It's like if I post something semi private, the whole world can google it for eternity.
I'm not sure if it's appropriate to name names in the forum, but I have ten wp members in mind who I suspect might be interested in this.

Can you open a thread only to 10 members of wp and close it to everyone else? And then if more people want to join, they'll go into the second 10 person support group. What do you all think? Is it a good idea or is it my logical brain overcompensating for my lack of social intuition?

Let's see... you joined less than 3 months ago, and you're 21 years old... what do you mean by "senior?" :)

I'm the lowliest of the moderators, and know very little... but I don't think it'll fly.

Aren't there little programs out there that can provide people with private forums?

One thing you should be aware of is that nothing on the internet is private. Not even so-called "private" chat-rooms or forums. There was recently an incident where two people in a private chat-room on this site were cybering and the entire text of their "encounter" appeared on a "quote site" where it was easily visible to anyone.

Do not post anything on the internet that you are not comfortable with the whole world seeing.

Seconded.

Most of the online credit card fraud doesn't occur because transactions are intercepted. It's because numbers are stored securely but then someone makes a change to that security (for another reason) and coincidently exposes them to the world. It's the same with "private" forums.

would it be better just to use PM's rather then a private or exclusive board, it is a fairly open forum here.

I just think you are looking for something that WrongPlanet is not. There are many other sites for "Private Chats" and networking spaces and social faces sites for all of that. WP is WP. what you see is, mostly, what you get.
