Post Bumping, that is posting in topics defined as 'old,' is often disallowed on forums. Before I was to post in any old topic, I wanted to make sure I was not breaking a rule. Of course, if it is disallowed, I will not break that rule. However, if that is the case, how does one define old?

I'm not trying to start a fight; I'm only trying to figure out my boundries so I do not get into any trouble with the mods.

Thank you!

I guess we take each case on its merits.

If there's an old thread that has useful info in it, and you are making a genuine contribution, which is connected to that existing information, etc, etc.... then fine.

If you are just necroing dozens of old threads for the fun of it, then we will not be amused.

I hope that answers your question?

Yup, it does, thank you.

Though I certainly hope that you do not think I was planning to spam fest!

It is what you have just done to this thread! :shameonyou:

If nobody has contributed to a thread for months and someone adds a post to it simply to nudge the post to the top of a forum, then that is called bumping. Or did you know that already and are just teasing?

That being said, when I wrote this thread, I meant making legitimate contributions to old threads.

Yeah. I think we have a live one here. Quite clever, I must say. It makes me wonder if they did it spontaneously or if they have been waiting for it.

Please do not be too hard; he could be serious after all.

True. They could be serious. But if not, I think it was a good joke.

Yeah but some old threads can be interesting, I usually go into an Advanced Google search and make sure I don't start a new topic that already exists.

Yeah, I always felt kind of rude creating new threads.
