Really, like many schools and degree programs, you are sold on the image they project of the profession, not the reality of the job you're likely to get. It's been that way for a long time.
We need to go back to apprenticing. I advocate that anyone who wants to go to law school should spend at least a year working in a firm doing anything so they can gain insight and experience. I guarantee a lot of people would probably decide against going to law school after not even 6 months.
