I'm alright at it but I'm not a math genius. I had to resit in my first year at college but I managed to pass it that time round

I used to be really good at math in high school but math is harder now. Calculus is OK but linear algebra is sooooo hard. I'm in 2nd year university.

I am good at math through pre-calculus.

That is why I changed my major from geology to geography.

This. I voted 'yes' because I'm a math major but I can't add, subtract, multiply, or divide actual numbers very well. So OP, it really depends on whether you mean calculating or construction of logical proofs when you say 'math'.

I voted that I'm okay at math. I've always struggled with math and visual-spatial abilities, and I've been diagnosed with NVLD. However, I'm actually really good at algebra. I think it's because algebra is all rule-based and formulaic. It doesn't really require any visual-spatial abilities. On the other hand, I'm awful at trigonometry and geometry. Just awful...

Hmm, I am awful at algebra, but geometry is easy for me. Anything that involves division, fractions, or variables are excellent at confusing me.

I guess I meant the calculating part, it wasn't specified, so whatever.

I am alright at math. I get relatively incompetent at abstract mathematical conceptualization, but when I only have to do simpler elements of mathematics, I am fine. So, to give an example, I can do most basic algebraic manipulations very quickly and effectively, but I have difficulty with mathematical logic, proofs, and anything that require the greater mathematical powers.

Also, gnosislogicemotion was right with the first suggestion. The second one is actually quite silly.(I am joking here. )

i suck at math. ive had people tell me i am natural at it, but just need to get it better, but something about my learning just can never retain the information. like a learning disorder or something.
i HATE algebra. geometry, i am ok at, i excel in some things relating to geometry.
i like calculating living costs and that sort of stuff though, maybe that's business math?
really i just loathe algebra with a passion, my maths this year is algebra 2 so far ive gotten like, 20% on my tests...and i never do the homework.

Well, I guess it varies on the person. I think I could safely say that most, not all, aspies have trouble with the algebraic and computation part of math. If you think different, please help make a more complete conclusion. Thanks!

Math major here. I enjoy math, don't know if I would be considered good at it or not. I'm in graduate-level courses now and passing them, so I guess that counts for something.

I'm OK with math. If I stop working with it, I may get confused by it. But if I keep at it, and study, I usually understand it better than most people. It's just a subject that needs some love.

That counts for quite a lot. At least in my math department, most of the graduate courses pretty much assume that you've taken undergrad linear algebra/real analysis/topology/whatever. And I can barely get through a proper, rigorous, proof-based treatment of linear algebra.

Just keeping things on topic, do you think more of us would like math if the whole logic-and-proofs thing were emphasized from the start? Something like is described in Lockhart's Lament (this is a long read, beware!) - more of an emphasis on discovering mathematical conjectures - because, after all, what proportion of us will be using logarithms in the real world? Of course, a good mental gold on fractions, decimals, and algebra is essential - but after that, wouldn't it be better to teach logical thinking as opposed to formula memorization?
