As someone with Asperger's, it takes me a longer time to process information, so I have to read the sentence over and over again. A lot of times I still don't the meaning. It does make me feel dumb on occasion.

This sounds exactly like me. I feel ret*d around my peers. A lot of people say it's hard for them to learn by just reading, but it seems like they have no idea how much I struggle sometimes. I can read a page over and over and not take anything in at all. This happened a lot in high school with history books and classic novels. I played it off as me being lazy and thought somehow if I really tried and wanted to that I could learn the material. It never occurred to me that I had any sort of disability. After all I could excel in some classes and do horrible in others.

When I say it, it doesn't bother me, but when someone else says that they feel "ret*d" because of this it makes me sad. Don't ever feel bad about yourself because of this. I bet you have a lot of abilities that others wish they had :)

When I saw one of my doctors, we agreed that I should read at a level far below where the rest of my brain is and progressively build up until we find what level I'm having trouble with. For example, I'm 25, but this weekend I'm going to the library to pick up some middle school level books. I'm going to read at a higher and higher level until I find my blockade. Then we'll work on pushing past that. I'll post again when and let everyone know how that goes. It may help!
