Should I drop out of COLLEGE?
I'm sorry it's been so hard for you, and I really hope things can improve for you. How long do you have until the end of this semester? Is it nearly finished, or just begun?
I think you really need to seek mental health support, because this is a lot for you to handle on your own. Talk to the student health people, or maybe also your GP. It sounds like you're facing a lot of stress-a lack of sleep, struggling to focus and worry over grades. You could also speak to a counselor about these issues-they might have some ways to help. Having some coping strategies or maybe even medication could really help you gain some more clarity.
Secondly, I would advise that you keep in contact with your tutors and lecturers. Email is good for this. For any essays, reports or assignments you have to do, write a plan first. Then email the lecturer with a brief outline of the plan, and ask if you are on the right track. This will help identify problems early.
I also find my course load a lot less overwhelming when I have weekly goals for the things I want to have done by the end of that week, like printing resources, finishing readings, drafting essays, etc. Write a list of all your assignments and their due dates, then break them down into steps that you need to accomplish by a certain date. This will give you time to contact your professors and tutors, and it will help you feel more organised and less rushed. It feels like a lot of work when I think about having seven essays due, but if I know when I need to have planned, completed, and edited each of them, it is less overwhelming and easier to manage my time.
If you do get a bad mark on something, it is also good to contact the lecturer to ask about why. You can send them an email asking to clarify feedback, or ask where you went wrong.
Finally, I think you should find out exactly how close you are to finishing the degree, and what else you need to do to get it finished. I know I felt more purpose at uni when I knew what I needed to do to graduate. And I think that next semester, sticking with part time study is a good idea.
Good luck in whatever you choose to do. You're not the only student to have felt like this, and it doesn't mean you're hopeless or a failure.
UPDATE: Something terrible has happened. It is extremely complicated so I will summarize it.
I requested to shift out of my degree (which I have been kicked out of). I planned to shift to a science degree which I should have no problem finishing since they share similar subjects. Finishing another 4 year degree of a similar discipline shouldn't take too long.
Long story, short: Deadlines passed and I found out that my college did not even process my papers until now. Deadlines for certain documents required to shift to certain degrees have passed.
I am so shocked and speechless. My maximum residency (Max number of years you can stay at a university) will expire in about 2 years. If I can't shift by next semester, it will be "game over" for sure. The only ones that can accept me now are all these unrelated courses (ie. Sports). It's now humanly impossible to start all over again from scratch.
I really don't know what to do now. I feel so TRAPPED. I feel like I have been conned so cruelly. There is just no way for me to finish a 4 year course, in a completely unrelated field, in just 2 years. I still cannot believe what is happening right now. All the work, the sleepless nights, all those times I forced myself to study and drag my body to the exam hall even when sick, all of the money and all the expenses - all those sacrifices are now wasted.
