I applaud your decision; it is one that I should've made at 14 or 15 instead of going through the gang-infested horror that was high school. Get your GED and start taking courses at the community college. You'll have an edge over the kids who are marinating in that teenage prison. Some community and city colleges let you do work, like guarding the gate, in exchange for free classes. One of them is the City College of New York City. Some colleges don't require GEDs and offer free job placement. I wish you heilsa and Odinspeed!

It's a stupid decision. Not to be abrasive, but you really close a lot of doors for yourself by dropping out of school. A high-school diploma is generally favored over a GED, by both employers and four-year universities.

A lot of people at top-tier state colleges came from community college. Unless you're going to become an investment banker or any other job that you do straight out of undergraduate, it's much better to drop out, get a GED, go to community college and then to a four year, and then use your college grades to get into a really good graduate school. By then, you'll have had more time and you'll have had been spared the disgusting high school experience. I know that the physical and emotional trauma I experienced in my 'ghetto' high school was not worth it.
