Procrastination, my friends, is what gets us through life.

It makes you do more work in one night than you ever would normally.

I have no desire to finish a paper until the week it's due, until then I constantly fret about it driving me nuts and giving me stress.

I have MAJOR procrastination issues. As in, I get so nervous that I end up starting a 10 page paper a few hours before it's due and turning in something really crappy a day late. It really makes me feel miserable, and it's one of the most important bad habits for me to change right now.

Someone recently told me something wise: procrastination is putting off feeling good. Thinking about it this way helps. You will feel good when you have completed the work and most likely won't until you do, so why put off feeling good about yourself?

I'm better then before, but sometimes I slip back into my old habits.

My lack of organization doesn't help my procrastination either :P

Usually I can't do any creative work (writing, art, etc.) unless I wait until the last minute. I don't think I've turned in any art projecs on time this year :(, but I have a nice teacher so it's okay. For my English papers my teacher is nice (or lazy) enough to let us turn in papers far past the due date, so usually I pull all nighters finishing them up. Even if I try to write them beforehand, I can't concentrate long enough to actually get to writing it.

It's a really bad habit that I should probably fix.

Procrastination... I'm doing it right now.

I have 3 papers to write (8-10pgs each) for 3 courses I'm not at all interested in; they're due on the 23rd, 24th, and 30th. I should write them this weekend.

Also need to read a book on the Otavalo merchants of Northern Ecuador by next Weds for an independent research project (I actually want to do this)...

I've procrastinated my whole life, you could say. even years at the university and still did not finish my BSc. This has been one of my major problems in life so far. Don't know if this has anything to do with AS though.

I don't tend to procrastinate. If I am assigned an assignment, I write it down and try to work on it immediately. Because of this, I don't feel stressed out. My advice to you procrastinators is work on whatever tasks your assigned as soon as possible. You'll eventually be self-rewarded for it.

I used to do that, and it was not fun, but I was good at doing projects and assignments at the last minute, sometimes the period before the class in which it was due, and I was so proud of myself for even barely passing, or for getting good or really good marks on these mediocre slapdash last-minute pieces of work.

Same here. But then often I find I will enjoy the work once I actually get off my butt and do it. I'm pretty efficient at whipping out a paper, so I have learned I can afford to put things off, which makes me less stressed about it.
