Some countries' (or states/provinces) schools create mindless drones for a reason: if more critical people appeared, some countries would be stuck with endless political torment due to minoritarian governments...

I agree totally with everything you're saying. But here in America, unless you want a 12-hour school day, which the teacher's union would never allow, you need to teach what NCLB wants you to teach, not what's actually important.
