Interesting Proposal to Solve the Bullying Problem
no tolerance policys on violence do not adress the issue of why im being attacked, and schools punishment system can be an ineffective deterent.
my girl tina_watercrest talked of her school having an anti-bullying policy unfortanty it was only enforced for a year.
I would love to see those who bully other sujected to corporal punishment, or keep them isolated for prolonged periods of time instead of letting them out to play with the other kids
I would rather have been in a big brother system in elementary school and called everyone comrade than going through the hell i went through.
I remember them telling us to be nice an inclusive later this worked a little but overall this was ineffective
pychological and physical bullying are causing more mental issues for people with ASDs like social anciety, depression, and make it difficult to make friends,
it is an evil that must be stoped
You make some valid points and I relate to what you say. My worst year was 8th grade when it came to bullying and harassment. The only consequence my tormentors "suffered" was they all got sent to the school counselor! Even the vice principal told he couldn't punish these kids because most of the torment was verbal and not physical but the one time it did turn physical, the school disciplinary officer threatened to punish me and them if it happened again. There was no way to win.
I also remember another child, although not in my classes but in my grade, who was going through something similar and it was so bad with him he was cutting classes and cutting school to get away from it. All school officials did for him was shuffle his class schedule around and put him in a 6th grade homeroom in the mornings so he'd be away from these kids, but he was still tormented. Nothing was done to his tormentors of course, just like with me.

As a kid, I was bullied. A lot. The bullying stopped when I became larger than the would-be bullies. It's difficult (not to mention ill-advised) to bully someone who looks like they could seriously hurt you.
(Incidentally, that's my defence when I walk alone at night. As a friend of mine put it, in the dark I look like a linebacker.)

What do you do if the entire administration and staff know about this girl, named Brenda, that is constantly harrassing me and all they do is talk to her? Talking to her has no positive effect; it makes her even worse! And since they never seem to see her in action, I'm considering bringing in my digital camera and recording her with it. However, I can only record movies and things for one minute... Oh well, I'll bring it anyway! It's worth a try, isn't it? Then I'll have all the proof I need! I already filled out a six page incident report on her, I've told her fourth period teacher about her, I told our councelor about her, I've told the principal and both assistant principals about her, I've told the athletic director about her, I've told my teacher of record about her, I've told my fourth period teacher about her, I've told both deans about her, and I've told the township and state police about her. She's gotten talked to by every single one of these people, but like I said, there's no positive effect on her at all. Just negative. I'm actually skipping lunch now since she's gotten so bad. At least I can eat when I get home at one (I take half days now).
I'd suggest setting up a meeting with the school administration and suggesting that if they're unable or unwilling to deal with the problem, that you reserve the right to defend yourself. Failing that, I'd suggest the legal approach. I'm sure there's a local lawyer that'd LOVE to take that case.
Same story here. Except for one thing, here, you can't record a minor without the express written permission of his/her parent(s)/guardian(s).
Get out of school (which is truant), go round to their house (when I don't know where they live), "Excuse me, could you sign this so I can record your child bullying me?"
I think not.
For general relavance to this thread:
'No-one's expecting you to stand there and take a beating'
Then how come I get in trouble for defending myself?
I hate it that teachers ONLY EVER SEE the tail end.
If other members of staff know why that happens, then why can't they tell the teachers? Grrrrrrrrrr.....

What's a taser?

A taser is a device that looks like a mix of a flashlight and a gun, and has two electrodes on the end. When you touch another person with it and press a button, it shocks them with 50,000 volts for a few milliseconds. It's relatively harmless, but due to its volage, it paralyzes the person for 2 to 10 seconds, long enough to let you run away. The police use it on criminals who get violent when resisting arrest; the 2-second window of time is long enough to let them handcuff the offender. It seems like a good weapon against bullies too.

Sounds good. I think I'd need the 10-second version though...I'm not that fast a runner.
Or I could pester my cousin for tips.
I want one now.

Also, it's hilarious how you first automatically equate being bullied with being smart, and then equate being smart with having AS. In only three pages, you both manage to completly polarize into a "us-and-them" argument, and basically say that anyone who doesn't have AS is a moron.

If you have as, you are different. Being different comes at a high price in school.

The tasers and tear gas sprays are for protection against bullies. They're for defense, not offense. And besides, a lot of NTs in high school are free to hurt other people at will. They bully people mercilessly, causing misery for anyone that's not in the popular crowd. Do you think that's fair to have bullies get away with everything, while aspies are left with no ways to defend themselves? An effective but non-lethal device will act as a deterrant for bullies. (School officials don't count, because they're also prejudiced against the outcasts.)
But we're getting off-topic here. This post was originally about a camera system that monitors what happens in all areas of the schools, so the bullies can be monitored and punished accordingly.
Im not popular at my school, and Im not miserable. In fact there are several non-popular people at my school, and many other schools Im sure, that are not miserable. Everything isn't so f*****g black and white. Not every autistic student is bullied, not every popular student is a bully, and not every bullied student has AS. By saying that only students with AS should be given weapons, you are just demonstrating that fact that you actually don't give a flying f**k about people being bullied. You just want to exact some sort of weird, post-homous revenge on the people that bullied you. What about the thousands of people that are bullied who dont have AS? Are we just to ignore them, because they dont have an "excuse" to be bullied? I guess they dont fit into the way you choose to see the world, where people AS under constant attack from every direction, and never are treated fairly, and everyone else is just a big ole meanie. And that worldview is really f*****g stupid.
Also, the notion that weapons are necessary to protect autistic students is completly and utterly ret*d. Most do fine without going around with machineguns strapped to their backpacks.
I don't even know why I'm dignyifing this with a repsonse but:
Maybe it is possible to get along, but why should I try to get along with people who punch, kick, call me names and get away with it?
