What kind of crowd did you hang with mostly in HighSchool?
I hung out with just average groups. Not popular kids, but not unpopular enough to draw a lot of attention to ourselves.
First of all it was decided me and one girl were friends because she latched onto me as I was the only other person in the class who she knew from primary school. Then she made other friends (so we became a group) and then gradually ditched me. I was being left out of things but still sitting with them at lunch. Another girl had left the group after falling out with the first girl I mentioned, and so she'd ask me how things were with her and I'd tell her, so she decided I should hang around with them. That was preferable so I did. It's only now I realise it was more out of spite than a genuine liking for me. I was friends with them for a while, but as there was a regular foursome it meant the the two of us who didn't have a best friend became best friends. She was smart and seen as quite weird by most people, although I'm certain she's not aspie. The other two became jealous and started to hold talks without me (see - creating drama, which is something I can't stand) and would basically blame things on me, saying that I was stealing her from them!
Anyway, in the end they started to leave me out of things so I ended up not really mixing with them, and my best friend made other friends and I ended up being ditched by her. I was in sixth form by this time so was pretty much a loner for a year or so. I didn't mind so much as the fact that everyone else would make a fuss over the fact I was now sitting completely alone. So people who were sort of mates with me (come to think of it, by that point we were a large group of misfits with hang ups or quirks) would come over because 'you look lonely over here by yourself' - which was worse than being ignored!

i got hurt bad at the end of primary school when i discovered i had As and decided to tell my 3 friends who instantly told rest of school(it was a small country school only 21 pupils) and abandoned me, that was when i first considered suicide because i had no-one to speak to as my mum had simply swept AS under the rug and simply ingored it and my dad lived in livinston so couldn't even see him!
So when i started Secondry School i was a brick wall, i let no-one get close to me because i was too afraid of geting hurt again and i still am, no-one in my year knows anything about me! i hang alone watching my back for the next fight because i'm wierd!

First Primary School Small, Very Mediocre Village School
I spent my time in deep thought, or in lack of thought, skipping around the compound. Principal adored me, because I was a saint and I aced every single exam except something called "Penmanship," which I consistently failed. He suggested the diagnosis to my mum; he was a fairly careful person and we spoke often in his office. He cried when I left.
Second Primary School Big High-Reputation School
Distant Principal. Loving teachers. Class toppers [including me] were all very nice to each other, but I never actually "hung out" with children. Teachers and I would regularly hold discussions during lunches.
First Secondary School Decent-Reputation School
["ordinary levels"]
Thorough, intimate relationship with Principal, vice Principal and many teachers. Can safely claim that it is unlikely that any other student was in the Staff Room and/or Principal's Office as frequently or for as much time as I was.
Whoever sat next to me was most likely to be the person I was going to have a conversation with outside of class, but I preferred the Vice Principal above all. It was very much like a Harry Potter/ Albus Dumbledore relationship. Became most popular person in school in
second term of my first year, and retained title until I left. I had to associate with a lot of students, though, as I applied my trademark (autistic?) zeal to many of my activities.
Second Secondary School One of the best in my country
Thorough, intimate relationship with Principal, vice Principal and many teachers. Can safely claim that it is unlikely that any other student was in the Staff Room and/or Principal's Office as frequently or for as much time as I was.
Rocketting popularity by end of first term. Still, no actual "friends" other than staff, even though my universal policy is to "give my heart out" to every person who crosses my path. When comfortable I operate like a "cold" machine, so it is important that everyone who meets me knows that I am a sainty person even though I don't really care about the rest of the world, and even though I intend to claim it all for myself. Being riddled with predictable contradictions helps a lot.
=====
Since I was friends with all the office staff in every school in which I've been, I've never really needed any my own age; I could easily get many desired exceptions arranged. However, I think I got some respect from Deans by absolutely refusing to accept exceptions when I could just be responsible instead. In fact he only things I've ever asked for/accepted are sensory accommodations and permission to study in the library rather than attend some sub-par class.
So, in summary, I've ended up with the following groups of people in their particular contexts:
Singers, Musicians, MANY Math People, Teachers [Many of whom never taught me], Office Staff/Librarians, Principals/Administrators, My Feet (skipping around), Chess People, Scrabble People, MANY Hallucinations/Complicated Thoughts/ Math, "Rejects," Jocks[Strange, but true], Stage/Sound Crew, general-purpose Geeks/Nerds, Debaters, Security Guards and Literature People.
=====
I don't "socialize." [I definitively do not engage in that which is known as small talk; I do not bend my idiosyncracies for other people or groups; I request, without embellishments, that the conversers make an interesting topic or leave me alone in my solace; I avoid group activities unless I'm getting some sort of benefit; I minimize the number of people I have to deal with at a time.]
=====
Maybe because I'm nice, people meet me on my own terms.
I hung out the stage crew. It wasn't the drama crowd, or the music crowd, or the emo crowd, or the jock crowd, or even the 4.0 straight A crowd---we were all a bunch of misfits who found that we got along well together, and also that we all enjoyed the teacher. We were all smart (well, most of us), but we didn't fit in at school. Those kids and that teacher were the reason I made it through high school.

I was a complete nerd and hung with other nerds. I was in the debating team and dux of my school.
You could write a movie about my husband and I getting together called "Nerds: A Love Story."
Here's some discussion from our first date. I'll refer to my husband as Superman because that's who I think he looks like.
Superman: I was in the debating team at school
Smelena: So was I. I always was the second speaker.
Superman: Really!! I was also second speaker!
Smelena: Wow!!
Superman: I was the dux of my school.
Smelena: You won't believe this, but so was I!!
Superman: We were made for each other!
Smelena and Superman embrace.

I tried to hang out with a "boy-girl" group of mainstreamers in grade 10, but I could never understand their "small-talky" language and way of socializing that just doesnt make sense to me. After various failures with girls and girls I was obsessed with, I got into drugs in Gr 11.
I tried marijuana in the beginning of Grade 11. I slowly started smoking more and more and hung out with the "druggy" crowd for the rest of highschool. I smoked weed everyday before school, at lunch and afterschool the last half of grade 11 and all of grade 12. It became a very big problem.
I don't reccommend using drugs to solve your problems. It'll screw you over in the end.
It seemed like when you were in highschool, you got under the influence really easily (not just to drugs). Like when you were in 9th grade, you gave up magic cards just for that one girl. I guess you cared about what ever other people thought of you... a lot. I just hope you are not like that today and that you are not taking drugs anymore or your planning on quitting.

I had two good friends, one was the president of the honor society and the other was the president of the music honor society. But the group I would more likely socialize with would be the nerdy weirdos, here those would be the people from Salcha, which is a bunch of houses along this strip of highway which they happen to call a town.

I also had two good friends at school, used to hang about with them from about primary 7 till the end of secondary school. Id say we were a pretty regular group. We'd hang about at luch breaks and after school. Others joined the three of us somtimes. I was pretty social back in secondary school, used to hang about with allsorts of people when not with my 2 close friends. It wasnt till after school when we all went our separate ways.
