Do you think that its impossible for Autistics and normal people to get along?

Of course it's possible. But leaving certain people utterly defenseless is stupid and hurtful. (Heard of learned helplessness?) Maybe there should be a solution that will give bullying victims, both aspie and NT, some kind of way of fighting back againt bullies. The sh*tty part is that the solution hasn't been found yet. Bullies do what they do because they know they'll keep getting away with it. There should be a way for victims to fight back, for bullies to get aprehended as quickly as possible, or better yet, both.

Amen to that! You know, people might not be so quick to shoot if their target might shoot back.

Good luck to you all in your anti-bullying campaigns and strategizing.

However, as some of you have stated previously, the school is usually more interested in protecting it's reputation than assisting you in your grievances. And yes, it is a shame that most Aspies are the ones brought to justice for defending themselves. Aspies happen to be incredibly marginalized, and I"m sure most administrators/teachers would rather look the other way than intervene. Just like sexual harassment, no one wants to believe that a student/teacher who has everything going for them is capable of mistreating someone else. For what would be their reason, right?

Anyway, my suggestion is that you guys educate yourselves into the psychology of bullying behavior. There are a lot of great resources out there, and wikipedia is becoming a good hub for a variety of information on this topic.

I don't recall who said this, but it is a very strong quote: "Know Thy Enemy." The way you defeat your enemy, is by learning what makes him tick. Bullies thrive off of your reactions. As difficult as it is to accomplish, you need to do your best not to give them the reaction they are looking for. Whenever you give in, they win. That's not to say that even given your resistance the bullying won't continue. Often times, especially right when you start demonstrating empowering behavior, the bullying will escalate. This is because the bully is starting to fear that you are no longer a captive to him/her and wants to make sure you aren't still a victim. Eventually, we can only hope, they'll give up and look for someone else to pick on. If it persists beyong what's reasonable given your "lack of response" strategy, I'd suggest filing complaints with the administration as far up as you need to go to get something constructive done. Then, if that fails, get ahold of the Human Rights Commission, they're good at the work they do. It wouldn't hurt to threaten suing the school too, because as I said before, no school wants it's reputation thrashed in the media, so they'll probably be motivated to find a resolution for you.

Again, good luck! None of you deserve the way you're being treated!

If we can't implement the system I described earlier, at least we should arm every aspie student with a taser and a tear gas spray.
Fantastic idea! Obviously if you have AS, you should be free to hurt other people at will!

The tasers and tear gas sprays are for protection against bullies. They're for defense, not offense. And besides, a lot of NTs in high school are free to hurt other people at will. They bully people mercilessly, causing misery for anyone that's not in the popular crowd. Do you think that's fair to have bullies get away with everything, while aspies are left with no ways to defend themselves? An effective but non-lethal device will act as a deterrant for bullies. (School officials don't count, because they're also prejudiced against the outcasts.)

But we're getting off-topic here. This post was originally about a camera system that monitors what happens in all areas of the schools, so the bullies can be monitored and punished accordingly.

True, lots of NTs are free to hurt others at will.
