This week, starting Monday the 6th, I have started my first quarter of college. It is so cool to finally be in college.

I am a student of Rasmussen now, enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree.

The classes I am taking currently are:

* Success Strategies (which is an intro to Rasmussen type course required for 1st quarter)
* Contemporary Business (also call "Intro to Business" in the course catalog)
* Introduction to Astronomy (my favorite class already)

I don't get why a Bachelor's degree is required to be an accountant these days. My best friend's dad works as an accountant, and he only got an Associate's. At my college (which I'm transferring out of) it's the lowest credit major offered. The actual major itself is only 9 classes, or 36 credits. You need 180 credits to graduate. So what that means is that only 20% of the classes you take actually matter. The other 80% is just useless crap they make you take, so that they can make more money. Gotta love the college industrial complex!

Sorry, I went off on a tangent there.... Accounting's probably one of the better majors to go into right now for employment though, so I'd say you made a good choice. However, there's a lot of competition for those jobs right now... I'd recommend also taking some finance and econ classes to give you the upper hand.
