Ranting...
I'm just ranting about college for the heck of it. I really like it so far and honestly am only finding one or two classes to be challenging for the work if I do not include my pathetic editing skills for my english papers (I get help w/ that, I can write just not edit or tell what stuff I'm saying needs clarification to NT's). Some of my classes are just too easy & I rarely do anything for them. Long story short, part of this may be the fact I keep lists so I have a schedule of stuff to do everyday (work to do, hygiene stuff, when to eat (otherwise I'll forget
), do laundry etc. Seriously, if you cannot make sense of when to get everything done make lists that include everything/ different, individual lists in categories (academics, "home stuff", socializing, appointments, etc.) & combine them so you do so much each day (well it works for me anyway). But even with all that I still feel like I'll never get my work done (& my mother warned me b4 & after getting her OT degree
).
My main issues are social and dealing with finding my way around/understanding directions. Ex. Turns out I have a flake for an academic advisor (rarely answers my emails/had to point out to her that she was not using caps lock
, etc.). Not good. Stuff that would count as "social" would probably be dealing w/ advocating for myself & dealing w/ other people on campus (friends included). Ex. Not being able to find out what building to send a thank you letter too b/c you get bounced from building to building... I give up.
Oddly enough, I did make friends on campus right away, though I started gravitating away from the people I met the 1st week in my major & ended up fitting in better w/ the more laid back, disability advocacy club & anime/ren club people (combine art w/ nerd & wackiness & you've got it/ they like spazzy). This is a good thing due to my randomly dancing to my ipod, finding weird perverse symbolism in books, wearing sunglasses almost all day (even at night..."I wear my sunglasses at night"...
). I was not expecting to find anyone who would like my quirks & be ok w/ my issues. Though I'm worried this may change eventually.
Simply put, I've had to warn all my friends that I'm prone to panic attacks & such due to being touched & said I'm asexual (b/c though I may find people aesthetically pleasing the idea of touching them/unless it like hitting them in the arm... eww, really jittery much). Short version, only reason I prefer guys is I don't like hugging boobies (this makes my friends pout
), but I got funny looks (I think/my friends one faced arched funnily
) when I admitted to liking feet & preferring the way girls smell compared to guys. My lack of tact is starting to show! Yeah, again...
I don't get when to give info to prevent bad situations & when to hold back
. If you have advice on knowing what to tell your friends please help! Another issue I have is I am always w/ horny people! I cannot relate to that...
Only other thing I have issues w/ is my finances. I'm spending so much money buying odds & ends (plus recently x-mas gifts ahead of time)! I'm normally a cheapskate, but I keep needing stuff (hopefully my suitemate will actually buy toilet paper b/c I supplied it last time + hand soap/I like being clean). I need to get an on campus job next semester. But I wanted to get used to the campus b4 I got any kind of job on top of my academics & 4 clubs. Shocking, I went from doing one thing a year by force (from parents to "be involved"
) to choosing to be in 4 clubs (though I really only like 3, though the one I'm not a fan of & 1 other are good on a resume`)! Sorry, this was so long
. If you read the whole thing, go eat a slice of virtual cake (rather than a cookie so your computer stays virus free
)!
p.s. Asexuals (at least on AVEN) like me prefer cake to sex! (Is their a way to politely explain that if necessary)?
