There is no psychiatrist on staff at Kent State, although there are three offices that offer counseling psychologists.
Is this standard? are there schools with better resources?

I have never heard of a school who has a psychiatrist. Although I'm sure some psychiatrists probably make visits for certain patients.

To my knowledge, that is completely normal what you've described. A psychiatrist mostly just precribes medications. They are pharmocological doctors for the brain instead of the body.

I wouldn't expect much from school psychologists. I've never met one that was worth anything.

And here, two of the three offices use grad students.

One of them worked really hard on my neurological assesment and I appreciate that,
but the cognitive types aren't up on Aspergers or seem to have much idea of how to help me.

I never trusted school shrinks, but then I did my HS in a gossippy little mining town with lots of wagging tongues and I come from the 1970's when professionalism was not taken as seriously as it is now.

If I was in a like situation today, I'd have to see what kind of rapport develops between myself and whomever I talk to and decide if I trust this person enough.
