I am 20 years old and unfourtantly stand at 5ft10 inches tall. I wish i was 6ft3 and having aspergers syndrome makes life really hard as well as being only average height. I don't know what I am going to do and its incredible how much importance women in particular put on height you know I am sure its great for really tall guys that are well over 6ft tall but for us average height and short guys life is really bad.

I don't think I will grow any taller since I have already started doing weightlifting. I find it shocking how callous people are when it comes to the size of a man and its like 'if your not tall then your not going to get very far in life.'

Just need some advice on this.

Sorry dude I'm pretty sure not much can be done about that one. I'm curious to understand why your height would be an issue at all--like you said, you are average height or even above average.

I'm 5'8" and have never once in my life had a problem directly related to my height aside from being at a disadvantage playing basketball and changing lightbulbs and stuff.

Well to be honest I am probably at least 5ft10 but still tall guys certainly have it easier. I just hope one day we can live in a world where height means nothing.

Being tall is not all what it is cracked up to be. Tall people usually are under more stress and have shorter lifespans.

Make the best of what you have. You are not short at 5'10"
If you want to stand out, create a persona that is larger than life. Make something unique about you that sets you apart from the boring masses.

I am surprised to hear you say the 5'10" is not tall enough. I married a man just under that height. That's an excellent height to be. Being taller would be nice (I should know -- I'm 5'1" and have ALWAYS wanted to be taller), but it certainly isn't a big deal when you are 5'10". That's a perfectly respectable height.

I do think that you are on the right track, doing some weightlifting. A man who is 5'10" and has a nice build can be very attractive. Don't overdo the weight-lifting thing, though. Most women don't like overly buff men -- it gives the impression that that is ALL they are, just muscle and no brain.

Also, at 5'10", you will almost always look better than a shorter man, or a taller man, in clothes. Seriously, it's the perfect height. If you are relatively thin, you are in the best position because it will be a rare woman who isn't shorter than you, and yet you're not so tall that dating a really short woman isn't just fine for you.

I've been short forever, and yes, I wish I was taller. But it doesn't really affect much in my life -- never has. Just get on with life, do what you love to do, find people who share your interests -- and the height thing matters not at all.

Orgeon yeah I think height might be overrated. I live in the UK and its probably more of an american thing about the need for a tall man, its kind of like the american stereoype of blonde girls being the most desirable.

You will get some girls though only wanting men 6ft or more.

The only woman I know of who insisted on being with a tall man is my cousin. The one reason why this was mandatory for her (in her mind, at least) was because she wanted her future children to have a chance at being at least an average height (she is short at 4'11"). It's too soon to tell if this plan worked or not, as her children are only toddlers at this point.

But really - 5'10" is a nice (maybe even perfect) height for a man.

I was going to ask who you were hanging out with, because this is the least of most women's concerns... I'm guessing there is one particular woman who is shopping for a tall man that scorned you...

Frankly, anyone who selects a partner based on height is too superficial to even seriously consider.

To allow your self-image to suffer at the hands of such superficial looks-ists is short-sighted. Go for quality!

Never been scorned by a women for my height. I am probably more closer 5'11 really than 5'10, well on a good day. 5'10 is probably the least I am. Never been scorned by a women but its just the media and etc that paints the picture of tall men like 6ft3 being the best, actually I find that society paints the picture that 6ft3 is the ultimate height for a man.

Oregon why are tall people under more stress?

 Surely you don't believe everything the media says? 8O

For a little reality check, why don't you call local modeling agencies and get their input.

Crickey, the media.... :?

This.

If we're talking about the (true) folktale that girls like tall guys, remember that not all women insist on 6' 5" (or whatever) guys. So it's possible, even if it's hard. I imagine, though, you have to make things up exponentially on personality.

I am 5' 7", and I only wonder if things would be easier socially if I were 5' 10". So I see your point. It's just that 5' 10" is not short.

I just wish height was irrelevant in life. And even if women didn't care about a mans size then short men would still have the burden of being bullied by taller men. I guess in life its about survival of the fittest.

One problem is as well is that my mum is short for a women at only 5ft2 and the problem is a women and sons height correlates. My dad is also 5ft10 like me.

This is right up there with penis size...
It's not the size of the tool, it's the skill of the user.

There are very few men who would bully a jockey... because of their attitude, not because of their size.

Stop using your height as an excuse for being a victim or a loser. It's your personality that determines that.
