Imagine this happening on a regular day at your school. During homeroom, your teacher walks into class with a worried look on his/her face. As everybody sits down, the teacher begins a rather long announcement, shown below.

Quote:
For the past few years, our school was having financial troubles, and the situation reached critical mass. The district had to make a hard decision to sell our school. They didn't name the company buying out the school, but the spokesperson said they plan to tear down the building, since they're not an academic institution. And they didn't announce what they'll build in its place. So in short, our school will closed and torn down. You, the students, will be transfered to the other school in our district, or to schools in surrounding districts, based on straight-line distance. If anyone has questions or comments about this, feel free to stop by the main office. <bell rings> Homeroom's over; have a nice day, everyone.
So how do you feel about this happening?

Well if it was my old school I'd be happy - they kicked me out because, although I was getting better grades than most, I couldn't do the coursework. Stupid, I know. However, my current school have helped me out more than anything, and they've supported me even when I can't do the coursework. So if they shut down I'd be really gutted.

I would be angry because I don't like it when people are stupid and screw things up because of it. I really want the people who screwed over our school district to die horrible deaths. :x I really would not like it if my school closed because almost all of the classes I am taking are super duper advanced and would not be offered at the next closest school which is a dump. When it gets to the point where every single class you take is either an AP or a really advanced elective class then you really do sort of like your school no matter how much you hate education and learning in general.

Considering between K and 8th grade, I was transferred to a new school 6 times (moved once and lived in same school district the entire time), I do not think I would have cared because it was business as usual.

Now if it were HS, I would have a problem with it. Of course, in my situation, the whole school would have moved to a new building but the people would have been the same so I do not think I would have had a too much of a problem with that either. (not that it would have ever happened because my HS is a historical landmark).

I'd hate it and consider asking my parents if they'd be willing to homeschool me. For the most part (and despite what I say to some of my friends about certain school issues), I love my current school and don't want to leave or see any more drastic changes happen to it.

I voted on feeling absolutely nothing.

Recently I did get news that my old HS is slated for demolition this summer. Although I don't intend to go to the reunion, I did visit my old HS's website and signed the guest book with something like this:

When I got news they were tearing down the old school, all I could think about was the Pink Floyd album, The Wall, which was at the top of the charts during my last year there.

I know we can't get 'Floyd to come and play for the grand finale, but if anybody is thinking about doing a tribute of that album, I'm willing to offer some artistic input before they Tear Down The Walls.

Write to me but don't throw me any bricks ;-)

I'd probably panic. Changes in routine frickin' SCARE me.

I don't think I'd have my parents homeschool me, though. I need to work on my social interaction, and high school is the best place for me to do that (I feel).
