Anyone go to sixth form/college?

I currently go to sixth form which is a part of my old secondary school.
I have to say it's slightly better than secondary school but not by much...

It's really stupid though that if a teacher ain't in then we're pretty much left on our own. That's already happened a couple of times for one of my geography teachers. One time there was one geography teacher for like 3 classes and we were given a sheet we had already done.

Plus in a couple of my classes (history mainly) they seem to find it impossible to keep their mouths shut and do the work. The boys in that class have the most filthiest mouths. I honestly got sick of listening to it and being given basically work you would expect in year 7 and I left. (The teacher wasn't there because she'd left for whatever reason. It was nearly the end of term). A couple of students in that class should have been kicked out already but surprise surprise they stay and slow the rest of us down.

The work is a lot more challenging in AS level though. (A lot of the time). But it gets frustrating being held back constantly though.
Anyone loving college/sixth form?

My sixth form college was s**t. The only good things in it were my two History and Government & Politics teachers. They were the only thing that kept me going there. I've been kicked out though so I guess I have to start looking for a new college

Don't worry about the people, most of the crappy ones tend to drop out. Which A Levels are you doing apart from History (awesome choice btw ) ?

Oh yes, I definitely go to college, but before that I was in the six form centre in my school and I certainly didn't like it one bit... It was more like school to me rather than college.... The best thing was I didn't have to wear the horrible school uniform... But it was pretty upsetting that I had to learn basic things, how boring was that.....

On Thursday's I go to college part time, more like the school link doing painting and decorating experiencing what life is like in college then during the year, I was discovered by the college that I had talent and was talented that I got offered a place in college, so I took the offer and had to learn so many things independently in a short space of time....

Now i'm in college doing arts & media, I think its alright but at times I feel I can't all the time keep up plus socializing is quite draining for me and I talk to anyone if they just approach me and I haven't been bullied there and gained friendship and some true friendship too... I would think i'am lucky to be there.... And got a very good chance of a good future.

How did you managed to get kicked out exactly?

I'm doing History, geography and philosophy. I thought about doing g & t but I didn't wanna do a fourth A-level.

Is it like university? Well, I might as well put "it sucks" anyway. School = school.

My 6 form was pretty good. I think it is ranked in the top 5 state 6 forms in the UK. I did Maths, Geography and Business, and Economics at AS.

I was very lucky in being able to go there as it was right next to my secondary school (which was terrible!! !! !) so most of my friends/acquantances from school went there. However, a couple of guys i didn't get on with quite as well went too unfortunately, but fortunately i rarely saw the,.

The teachers were also very good too (but this might just be because some of my teachers werent great at school).

The only thing though, was i lost all motivation to do much work in the last few weeks of my second year (probably due to simply "burning out") so i got VERY poor marks in my final exams which lowered my A level grades quite substantially.

What's sixth-form?

sixth form is like prep school sort of.... it's what brits do between the final highschool form and college. It's where they go to specialize nad I forget, but I think there are six specializations you can do. Being a musician I belive it was a linguistics specialization that my cousin took. Ane Englanders hwo can explain this clearly, I didn't have difficulty understanding I just don't remeber exactly how it is my cousin explained to me about the forms or the structure of your schooling other that instead of year 1 to twelve you do it year twlve to year one and then you have an extra from between year one and college/university where you choose what discipline yuo're going to specialize in for post-secondary studies, or something to that longwinded extent. I just want a better clarification so as I'm not misinforming TimTex at all.

Due to a mixture of anxiety and depression. I just didn't have the energy or attention span to do the work and was too anxious most days to come in. Certain things had happened at home and I was still trying to get over them but college had lost its patience with me. They usually went easy on me before because they knew I couldn't help some things. Also I have a history of being naughty and falling out with teachers if I felt they weren't good enough

It's for students between the ages of 16-19 years before university. Usually people who go to sixth form study for A-level(advanced level) qualifications in 3-4 subjects. It depends on the sixth form and what they offer subject-wise.

Oh I see. I went to a junior college, which is similar to a sixth-form college. I just completed A Levels not too long ago. I am waiting for the results...

I did Sixth form for a year and found it was a pile of rubbish. I do College now, it's better but I honestly feel I'm ready for higher things.

I go to a 6th form built-in to my secondary school so I've been there for 7 years! I'm in Year 13 at the moment.

The 6th form isn't too bad but it could have some improvements. Unfortunately the new Yera 12 (the year below me) is very very large and they take up the common room much more than our year does, making it no longer feel like a 'community' like it was last year. An annoying thing about the sixth form is that there is a study area unique to sixth formers but people tend to chat in there all the time and it can really get on my nerves at times. A good thing about it is that a lot of the idiots from my old classes are long gone, though there are still some really immature people. And there are the usual people who discover freedom in sixth form and do very little work, explaining why the recent results at our sixth form weren't that good. The teaching quality is okay but not brilliant in my opinion.

I'm doing Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry all at A2-Level (an A-level is made up of the AS which you do in Year 12, and the A2 which you do in Year 13) and I did AS Geography last year (but hated it by the end, so I dropped it).

I go to Hills Road Sixth Form College - the best state sixth form in the country, and I am so lucky to go there. It is such a fantastic atmosphere to learn and I can indulge in one of my obsessions - music - whenever I like because there are piano rooms. My teachers are also inspiring - especially my form tutor I am doing Chemistry, Biology, Maths (stats), German, Extended Project and Italian GCSE. A hell of a lot of work but defnitely worth it. No one at my college knows that I'm an aspie as I only found out recently myself, but I feel like I fit in (not socially, but in a different context) so I may leave it at that currently...
