Okay well I love English class because I really like reading and writing. The teacher is cool but she doesn't really discipline the class and there is some stupid idiots who are rather noisy. I happen to be sitting in between to wangstas with a bimbo and a jock in front of me. These guys are complete morons and they are horribly annoying. They talk to each other in class and say stupid things. They throw around homophobic slurs like they are any other word, which is actually against the school rules. Why is f*** a forbidden word but f** is okay? They also make very annoying and stupid statement. One of them had the nerve to whisper a vocabulary word in my ear in a vocabulary game! First of all I knew that word already and I felt like he was insulting my intelligence. I have a far larger vocabulary than him and I can't believe he thought I would be less likely to know the word than he would! I told the teacher right away because I didn't want to look like a cheater. They drive me utterly insane really. However, I'm not sure how to ask for a seat without sounding rude. Any suggestions?

Are you worried about appearing rude to the teacher, or to the people you are wanting to escape from?

If you're worried about appearing rude to the teacher, then I'd recommend avoiding mentioning her lack of control over the class as being a cause for the annoying behaviour. If you say something along the lines of "I want to move seat because I think I'll be able to concentrate better if I'm somewhere else," she might accept that without even asking anything else.

If you're not so fortunate, and she asks why you're having problems in your current position, you'd probably be better off just saying that your neighbours are talking too much (probably without going into the specifics of what they're saying) and that it's distracting you. I guess there'd be a possibility that the teacher might suggest that she can talk to the noisy neighbours about their behaviour, but if she brings that up then you could just say that you'd rather move.

If it's the people you're trying to escape from that you're worried about appearing rude to, then I'd suggest that you talk to the teacher about the move at some non-class time so that they have no idea why you have moved.

Thank you I'll try that. I was mostly worried about being rude to the teacher. Thank you!
