Does anyone know what the !@#@ is going on!
I stopped to see a UARC (University Acedemic Resource Counsler) today to get counseling about the fall semester of which I hope will be my last.
Anyways, when I got done, I got the impression that NO ONE on this stupid campus has any idea what's going on in regards to acedemic requirements.
All this stems around the math requirements for my degree. As I've alluded to in the past, any math beyond +,-,*,/, the simplest algebra, or anything that can be done on a calculator is beyond my capacity.
I need to take two different math classes, one at "Level I" and a second at "Level II".
I tried to take twice and I was forced to drop twice, the "gateway" Level I math class, Math 104 AKA College Algebra, having achived a cumulative score of about 20% both times. Before I dropped the second time I talked with my professor and he told me if I was struggling with algebra, to take PBIS 189, the Seminar statistics class of which I'm enrolled in right now and doing quite well in.
So now PBIS 189 will fullfill my "Level I" requirements, the question is, where do I go now to get a "Level II" math class to meet the requirements for my degree? The UARC suggested I take Psychology 203 which is Psych Stats and that I can get into it no problem. So I hopped on the computer and guess what it said....
So not only that, I now gotta take an intro to psychology class, which I should mention I've failed once before, so the computerized registration system won't let me enroll into that and gives me this message.
So next week I have to do a lot of running around to try and figure out what the F#@$ is going on. If I find out I've run into a dead end someplace, i.e, I find out that due to some technicality that I can't get my degree. I'm gonna screw this whole college thing since I have all the course work done for my major which is what I really care about
For someone who likes things simple and straight-forward, this is really agravating.

Yeah, I know what you mean. College advisors really suck. They don't give you straight-forward answers, etc, etc. I know what you're going through. About that psychology class. When did you take it? The only thing I can figure out is that your transcript is reading that you failed the class, which means that if you failed it you can't register for the class until sometime in the summer, i forget how long you have to wait until you can register for a class that you need to repeat. I don't know if that works for transfer students when you came from your other school, but I know that's how they do it at UWOshkosh. Anyways, it does look you're gonna need that intro to psych class in order to take that psych stats class. I was wondering, would you be able to take both simultaneously? I mean next semester take Intro to Psych and that Psych Stats class at the same time.
