What is "Lab?" I'm doing Lab for Anatomy/Biology but don't understand WHAT Lab actually is. Does it go hand/hand with your course? a separate course? I'm confused! Thanks.

Lab is short for laboratory...required for all science courses. You will be involve with all the practical experience in lab...using microscopes and actual handling of things like bones and other things learned in Anatomy. Depending on what is involved in your particular Anatomy course, you may dissect a baby pig, frog and in some Anatomy courses, they study human cadavers.

Many science courses are divided into two components--a lab and a lecture. Labs typically meet less frequently but for longer amounts of time and they usually follow the lecture material, more or less. The grades for labs are often based on lab reports that you turn in and/or practical exams.

A practical exam for an anatomy course might go like this: multiple stations with dissected specimens that have different anatomical structures tagged with a pin or a piece of string. Students move from station to station every 2 minutes (or something like that) and write the names tagged structures on a piece of paper. Because there is a lot of anatomical variation among normal animals, it helps to look at the dissections that your classmates perform as you go through the course. The more you see, the easier it will be to identify structures on the practical.

ICK (to dissecting animals INTERESTING for human Cadaverurs COOL!) Going hands on with bones and microscopes seems interesting. Before Psychology while fun to learn was just the boring basics It seems this "Lab" course stuff is more "hands on" (Now lets just hope I don't break the bones, microscopes) (I'm a clutz) and hopefully I don't get picked last. :-( Sounds interesting though. :-)
