Before college/university

"Yes, I hate certain homework but hey lets get some of it done anyway."
"School's fine. There's no reason to fear university/college since I trust that it is designed such that grade 12 will prepare you enough for it."

After entering college/university

"Aw, I REALLY HATE DOING ANY SCHOOL WORK!!"
"Man, what is wrong with the educational system? Why did everyone around me suddenly become a bunch of geniuses? Why isn't it a smooth transition from grade 12? I was smart in high school and now I feel SOOOO stupid and dumb."

Thats how I feel. I'm aware that I have been ranting a lot about how I HATE university and I suddenly feel like I'm ret*d/stupid but I just don't understand how I was admitted into a program I wasn't prepared for. I think that grade 12 university preparation courses (academic rather than applied) should be harder for people to prepare for university.

I had an easy transition. But part of the reason I can see people struggling in college is not being able to balance their work & social lives on top of needing to know how/when to communicate with professors in order to get help (which you must seek out yourself in college, unlike high school).

I completely and totally relate; I just finished my first year of college. I don't know about your school, but in mine, there was no such thing as preparation for college. :P

I didn't seek help in high school because I did not need to lol.

It's just a matter of study habits. Smart people don't need them in high school, so we get screwed in college.

I wonder if anyone who struggles in high school goes to university?

I struggled my first two years of high school, not the second two. I did always work in high school, but not stress over it or have to work terribly hard. By work I mean occasionally I had to spend an extra hour at school with a teacher and I always studied for tests.

I did fine at junior college (just completed one year), but anticipate more of a struggle this fall when I transfer.

And I'm sure other people who struggled who ended up in university.

Yes!! I feel exactly this way! Specially with "Man, what is wrong with the educational system? Why did everyone around me suddenly become a bunch of geniuses? Why isn't it a smooth transition from grade 12? I was smart in high school and now I feel SOOOO stupid and dumb."
It's only my first year (maybe this will get better) and I already want to quit. Really, I think I'm masochistic, because despite of my lack of social abilities I chose journalism (maybe if I knew then that I have Asperger I would have chosen something different)

Maybe it helps that I'm absolutely smitten with my subject, and my social life is pretty restricted. I do get much lower grades who make me feel pretty dumb, but compared to the average student I'm fine. (yes I made a graph of others grades (which I obtained through 007-methodes) to see where I stand  )

I definitely had more time to complete homework in college and it felt like I had less of it than I did in high school
