I'm going to a college in Johnstown which is after my senior year (which is coming this Fall, so I still relatively have plenty of time). It's a more technical-focused college where it says around of half the student body struggles with some type of learning disorder (Autism, ADHD, etc), but I am sure he also said that those who are are high-functioning. After I have my associates degree, I am going to another college to study theatre and master a foreign language (perhaps Spanish, I already have the Instant Immersion Spanish software). What do you think. How do I go about choosing a course for my associates degree?

What subjects do you like? I'd recommend math because I like math. It has been shown that salary and the number of math classes you take in college are linearly related.

You know, my mom is concerned about me taking hard math classes.

1) are you good at math?
2) do you like math?
3) do you have a fear of or do you always avoid "hard" classes (do you ever like the challenge)?

What YOU think matters much more to YOUR future than what your mother thinks.

Well, I do really suggest something business-y or technical, just to make sure that you have some solid skills that make you more trainable as needed and can do whatever is needed, given that there is a good chance you won't get a good job as an actor or anything like that.

For your first year of college I'd take classes that you know you can excel in, but still will count towards your degree program. (you can always take 1 elective class each semester). If you're going full time your only required to carry a minimum of 12 credits, which from the college I want to translates to 4 classes. If you're going part time you have more lee-way and control. If there's a subject you don't like, try and wait till your 2nd semester or later to take that class. But don't jumble 2 difficult classes (like for me would be english & chemestry) together. Sometimes (still for credit) they offer college classes that teach high school (senior level) material, but in a college style. I managed to do well in a class because most of it I had remembered from high school and I was told I had to take this class and I didn't know it would be mostly the same. So read course descriptions from the college catalog. Because sometimes that might help you in deciding what's best to take 1st semester.

Well with this I say congrats and good luck in college.
(and be sure to find the college disability person, he/she can help you too.)

In your first year you need to make sure your fundamental school skills are 'topped out'.

Be sure and take comp classes first! No matter what you major in, you're gonna need good writing and analytical skills. Comp I&II with a good teacher will be essential to your success.
