My friend got on the Dean's List!! !! ! Now I'm worried about doing good in College!! ! As an Aspie I want to devote 24/7 to my studies and do well but my friends NT! The whole social hang out type (first start of summer classes she didn't even have an idea for a paper 1 week before it's due she wasn't done!) COME ON! I would of tried to get it done ASAP! SHEESH! (If yall remember I did a paper over the 2 week holiday period. So I CAN do well in classes but I'm worried I will not. Sadly some NT social type will probably AGAIN get recognized while my 24/7 studying will not. Does it ever pay off? I'm so worried!! !! (Kinda of Jealous about the friend since I WILL probably study more than her HELL I know I will! I don't have a job to bog me down and worry about!! !) and yet my dedication will probably go unnoticed!

^^Yaye greetings zeldapsychology. I am very happy for your friend.

^^I believe you certainly need not worry also. I believe you shall work very hard and shall perform very well. I believe that you can do more than try your best.

I was on the Deans list once in college. It was nothing more than BS and it has nothing to do with social abilities. Its purely academic based on your grades. I forget the exact criteria, but its something like a 4.0 for two semesters in a row or something like that. If you meet the criteria, the admissions computer automatically spits your name out.

All that matters really is whether you know that you did good; everything else is gravy. That being said, I've made Dean's List twice and Chancellor's List twice at my school. It takes a lot of work, but hey, we're Aspies, it's not like we're going to be going partying. You'll do fine.

I'm an Aspie that's been on the dean's list before without ever getting a 4.0. It came as a surprise too. Being on the dean's list is like having sprinkles on top of your resume sundae: pretty but not essential. As long as YOU are happy with how you did, all will be well. ^_^

The Dean's List is not defined the same way at every school. While it is a worthwhile accomplishment, it is not something to stress out about. Make sure you pay attention in class, learn the material, and continue to mature as a person while taking advantage of the opportunities provided by your school. This is how you succeed as a young college student.

Thanks for all the support. :-) Glad to know the dean's list is just sprinkles and overall no big deal. :-) Now I'm not as worried. I know I can be a good student. :-) As I've said I plan on spending 24/7 doing course work LOL!

Same here, I have tried for the very 1st time in my life when it comes to school, and pulled of A's, B's and C's (right now I am in a community college), and I have became more aware of what mistakes I made in the classes with lower grades. I feel like I am ready to learn for the first time in my life I can say and I am telling myself, I have to get at least straight A's for my transferrable GPA because I can have the ability to get in whichever four-year school I want to when the time comes.

You're worried about doing well. Grammar can be fun!

I think you'll do fine in college. Even if someone isn't terribly smart (I'm not saying you aren't because I don't know you) your teacher will see that you work hard and remember that. I don't think it's worth devoting 24/7 to studying unless you have fun with it. I'm on the Dean's list and I certainly don't spend 24/7 studying.
