I am nearing the end of my five week freshman program at college and I noticed a familiar face sitting right next to me in class I just couldnt put it together. Then a guy told me she played on disney channel and in other movies. I was like "wow". but now I'm like, why is she going through the stress of college is she has money already?

I wont say her name because I want her to feel like a normal person and not have her name pop up under google searches to my thread.

To enrich their lives, I guess. Maybe to do something besides acting. Why does anyone go to college?
That's very considerate of you, btw.

College can generally give people a new perspective in life and helps you be more open-minded. It's a good experience and is probably helping the person you know of keep and/or get a sense of normalcy in her life.

1. Although acting pays well while there's work and/or popularity, many actors (or their parents) have enough foresiight to realize that it's a very unstable career and they still need a college education to provide another field of work either between acting jobs or after offers dry up.

2. As jamesongerbil wrote, there is life enrichment. While they are successful, young actors may want to use their incomes to pay their way through college just for the sake of education. I actually when to college just for sake of education itself. I didn;t really need it for my carreer at the time, but I thought I would be cheating myself out of a lot of great experiences if I didn't go to college.

3. Some people just realize early on (especially if they were child stars) that they don't WANT to act their whole lives even if they could. Many famous actors and musicians may love the craft, but not the crazy life that comes with it, so they go to college to study for something more suitable.

Maybe they feel they could use it for something else, even if it's not the money.

My best guess is because they're bored. College isn't really good for much else.

Perhaps she wants to kindle a light?

Perhaps she wants a real job.

BTW, I find it interesting that the people who are rich and famous for doing real things, such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, and the two Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, for example, either dropped out of college or simply never went.

Sadly true: college truly is the greatest scam ever created.
