August 30th was my first day of college classes. My first class was at seven in the morning, and it was an Intro. to Sociology class. The class seems interesting. The teacher used to be a corrections officer, so I'm sure he's going to have a lot of interesting stories regarding that.

Of course, I couldn't help but feel very awkward because there were only about several students there I knew - two of whom I haven't seen since Jr. High, and one of whom I haven't seen since my freshman year in high school. I had to wait on campus for over an hour after class ended for my mom to come pick me up. Until then, I just walked around campus to try and get familiar with it, and ate a small breakfast in the cafeteria (two strips of bacon and a biscuit).

A while after I got home, I took a nap. Several hours after waking up from my nap, I felt sick to my stomach. Because of that, I ended up having to miss my next two classes for that day. It probably wasn't a big deal, though. I emailed one of my teachers for those classes informing her that I'd miss her class for that day, and she seemed to be pleased that I had already gone over the syllabus, because that's what we were going to do for the first day anyway.

I have two classes on Tuesday, both of which are in the evening hours. I'm hoping my feeling of awkwardness at not knowing anyone will go away quickly.

I can't help you with the awkwardness because the community college I go to has many members of my class, like 30 went there and like 30 more went to another one a little further away.

When I don't know anyone it's hard...I wish you luck and hope we both figure it out soon. And don't worry about missing any days really, I missed a few classes and as long as you show the professor you care, they help you out a ton and even make it easier, in some cases, then it already is.

That feeling will probably go away. My freshman year I was always very nervous and insecure but yesterday was my first day and I'm really happy to be back. It's really fun to be here and I'm very excited about being back especially in chem lab. I met a nice guy too (we walked across the campus together and he was pale white in the sun looking like one of those vampires from twilight, even had brown spikey hair and a stubble  ) and many other cool people, and familiar faces. Last year I dreaded seeing anyone who'd recognize me but now I don't really care. Every one has grown up for the most part here and they're really nice. I actually look forward to seeing these people again and meeting more.

Eventually you'll be really comfortable, and even when you're not comfortable, hopefully you'll have some fun classes to look forward to. So pretty much relax, try to be comfy, no ones going to say anything negative about you (and if they do, they make themselves look bad), and enjoy your classes and campus :D

Awkwardness tends to fade after the first day/week once you've had all your classes. People you used to know will probably ignore you (if they're anything like people I saw on campus from HS). Just relax and give yourself time to adjust.

Thanks, everyone. I'm still going to have to get used to my new school. I'm already stressing a little, mainly over textbooks. I'm also stressing over my algebra class, because all our homework will be done online and we have to take our tests in a separate building and it's all so confusing to me. :x
